Within the past month, four former deputy directors of operations have tried to offer CIA Director Porter J. Goss advice about changing the clandestine service without setting off a rebellion, but Goss has declined to speak to any of them, said former CIA officials aware of the communications.
The four senior officials represent nearly two decades of experience leading the Directorate of Operations under both Republican and Democratic presidents. The officials were dismayed by the reaction and were concerned that Goss has isolated himself from the agency's senior staff, said former clandestine service officers aware of the offers.

Good people should not be worried.
all for cleaning out Clintonoids from the CIA and elsewhere.
It is possible however that Goss and his people are too heavy-handed and are unnecessarily antagonizing some of the good people.
Time will tell. The record of the CIA the last ten years or so suggests that "good people" are not so plentiful that Goss can't go to work without stepping on them.
I think this just the sound of flapping wings as a flock of chickens return to the roost.
I have been reading about this cleanup and I am simply THRILLED.
Yes, he's taking out the garbage, and I completely agree with others who noted that the leaks right here in this article underscore the wisdom of Goss declining to take the "advice" of these jerks.
PURGE THEM NOW
Mitchell: "Well, you say in your book that the reality is that there is a large and growing among the world's 1.3 billion Muslims against America, not because of a misunderstanding of America but because they understand our policies very well."
Anonymous: "That's exactly right. I certainly believe that, and I think the substantial amount of polling that's been done by the Pew Trust and by other very reputable pollsters in the Islamic world indicate that most of the Islamic world believes they know exactly what we're up to, and that's to deny the Palestinians a country, to make sure that oil flows at prices that may seem outrageous to the American consumer, but are not market prices in the Islamist's eyes, supporting Russia against Chechnya. I think very coolly bin Laden has focused them on substance rather than rhetoric. And his rhetoric is only powerful because that is the case. He's focused them on U.S. policies."
"This opening sentence says a lot.
WHY have these "four former deputy directors of operations" come forward to "offer Goss advice" apparently before Goss even asked for their advice? I am suspicious of their motives right from the start and I guess Goss is, too."
You just nailed the real story behind this article. Well done.
Time to take you meds.
Good. He must have had some idea of what was coming.
He'll probably hire the "experts" on this board.
You don't have to be a professional football player to know the Miami Dolphins suck.

CIA Anonymous on 60 Minutes tonite (no longer "anonymous" will expose CIA flap)
HOW DO WE KNOW THIS?
BECAUSE THE MSM IS SCREAMING MAD ABOUT IT.
You've got that right! Our "Leading Indicator" is the Mad Stream Media.
whoops...I meant Mad SCREAM Media. :o)
Precisely. Pincus is worried about losing his reliable leaker(s). As for the related thread also running this morning, I'm not at all surprised that one or more disgruntled Leftists moles at the CIA are running to 60 Minutes. After the 60 Minutes II debacle during the campaign, I'm surprised any red-state person would pay the slightest attention to all this whining.
Aculeus: "Heavy hand," my arse. Given the CIA's miserable failures over the years, I wouldn't mind if Goss stripped the place bare and rebuilt from scratch.
Rebellion? Goss knows what to do about "rebellion".
Heck with that. The CIA needs a bigtime house-cleaning and anyone at the CIA who can't recognize that clearly needs to go. This is a new era, and the dinosaurs of the old era are nothing but dead weight.
"The four senior officials represent nearly two decades of experience..."
Four men. Less than 20 years between them? Unimpressive, though I'm sure they're sad to see the Gravy Boat leaving the dock.
I agree. Clean house. No 'rats allowed.
You can't possibly be serious. Anyone who believes the CIA is 100% rotten is as illogical stupid as anyone who believes it's 100% efficient.
As for Goss and his staff, I hope they are doing the right thing. Unlike most on this thread, I am not 100% sure that he is 100% correct.
Capiche?
