Cheney rushed to hospital
God bless this kind and wonderful man.
I go over there now and again to see what's up. It is usually so boring I read 2 posts tops.
I imagine what kind of people they are. There have been a few courteous ones, okay, I have seen 1.
When Bill Clinton was sick, when Elizabeth Edwards was diagnosed we offered good wishes. The ones who posted along the lines of what we see on DU today, are quickly admonished by other freepers.
Those DU'ers must be real life losers. I come to FreeRepublic for information and I learn so much from other freepers.
All DU has going for it is hate, rage and a language deficit.
FOX is saying that he was driven to the hospital, not ambulanced.
Thank goodness, at least we were saved the spectacle
of John Edwards chasing after him waving a power of attorney.LOL!!
Order of Presidential Succession
According to the Presidential Succession Act of 1792, the Senate president pro tempore1 was next in line after the vice president to succeed to the presidency, followed by the Speaker of the House.
In 1886, however, Congress changed the order of presidential succession, replacing the president pro tempore and the Speaker with the cabinet officers. Proponents of this change argued that the congressional leaders lacked executive experience, and none had served as president, while six former secretaries of state had later been elected to that office.
The Presidential Succession Act of 1947, signed by President Harry Truman, changed the order again to what it is today. The cabinet members are ordered in the line of succession according to the date their offices were established.
Prior to the ratification of the 25th Amendment in 1967, there was no provision for filling a vacancy in the vice presidency. When a president died in office, the vice president succeeded him, and the vice presidency then remained vacant. The first vice president to take office under the new procedure was Gerald Ford, who was nominated by Nixon on Oct. 12, 1973, and confirmed by Congress the following Dec. 6.
* The Vice President Richard Cheney
* Speaker of the House John Dennis Hastert

Prayers for your good health Mr. Cheney.
Amen. They have the choice and they choose to be this way.
what precedent is that?
xultar --post #21 on this story.
As long as they don't ship him to France, he should be OK.
How is your arm feeling?
I can understand him wanting to go out and hunt, maybe that helps him relax. Like playing sports can help you relax.
I'm sure he was more susceptible to a cold after the rigors of the campaign, though. His condition doesn't sound too serious, they are probably just being cautious.
...think it is related to the cold.I think and hope so, too.
Please relinquish this kind of humor on a thread about the VP and possible health problems. Some people just have no class or discretion.
Can everyone reading this thread please say a prayer, or at least send good thoughts for Cheney.
O Father our King, please Guard, Protect and Heal our beloved Vice President, Granting him a swift recovery from this sudden malady. Gift his Physicians with Your Own Wisdom and Discernment, that all will go perfectly in his diagnosis and treament. Grant his family Peace, and hear our distressed cries for our dear Vice President, O God! We Commit him into Your Strong Hand, and Praise You from our hearts for answering our prayers. For Your Glory we pray all things, and in the Name of Christ we Exalt You, amen.
I don't think this is passing along rumors. This is looking at possibilities based on what we, and the doctors consulted by Fox news, do know. That there is real concern, for any person with VP Cheney's heart health history, as to reasons why he is experiencing shortness of breath.
We're just reviewing those possibilities.
Didn't VP Cheney get a flu shot some time ago? My Dad had one a couple of years ago and actually got very sick with pneumonia a few weeks afterwards. Maybe the Vice President has pneumonia or something other than heart trouble. Pneumonia can give chest pains and shortness of breath too.
Edwards won't become VP. If Cheney resigns or dies before the electoral college meets, then Bush is allowed to select a new vice president-elect with his party's approval (this last occurred in 1972 when McGovern chose Sargent Shriver to be his running mate after his convention choice, Tom Eagleton, dropped off the ticket. Bush would simply select a new VP-elect who would receive party approval, and his electors would vote for him and that candidate.
Done.
