Hollywood, We Have a Problem
By Lisa Sarrach
November 12, 2004
The famous and the infamous out in La La Land are crying in their lattes over last week's election results. Therapists down in Florida have reported a huge increase in everyday Liberal patients in Florida so upset over the results; they've already termed the phenomenon, P.E.S.T.
P.E.S.T. now appears to have a foothold in Hollywood. It appears the star of Law and Order: Criminal Intent, Vince D'Onofrio, has already succumbed to the ailment, as he apparently fainted on the set in despair over the election and the mandate from his bosses to refrain from political discussions during work hours.
Barbra Streisand (web site) who famously misquoted Shakespeare in an attempt to skewer President Bush earlier this year, has now used statements from Thomas Jefferson when he was John Adam's vice president to basically state, that this evil (Bush's 2nd term) will pass.
Of course, Jefferson was speaking about the unconstitutional alien and sedition acts of 1796 that eventually led to their demise and his ascension as president in 1800. But never mind, we'll let her continue to ramble and use quotes out of context if it helps her get over her case of P.E.S.T.
After all, we are the Party of compassionate conservatism, eh?
And of course, Madonna has weighed in and requested an end to the war in Iraq and removal of all our troops. Madonna is receiving her therapy from the Kaballah rabbis, no pricy therapist for her, she just hands over her "contributions" to the Center and gets the therapy for free, I suppose.
Michael Moore....his case of P.E.S.T. is so severe, relocation to Canada or France may be the only way for him to heal and escape "Jesusland."

I heard him say he was NOT supporting Kerry.. but did not hear the other.. maybe he is just trying to NOT make more waves. If you saw the movie Papparizzi which he produced or directed , it is based on the troubles he has had with the media. Now with Passion & Hollywierd backlash there has been more problems I understand. He does NOT live in California with the regular movie types
Interesting post and I'm sure that is true in many circumstances. One would think though, that the likes of Julia Roberts and Whoopi Goldberg would be big enough stars that they could at least refrain from outlandish remarks.
Some big actors seem to have be able to circumvent the unions. Thinking Tom Hanks for example, I don't recall him ever publically swinging right or left. His wife may play surrogate in his case though.
Prairie
How does Lisa Sarrach know why Vince D'Onofrio fainted? Does she even know the circumstances? Obviously she does not, as she does not bother to list them.
To wit: (according to AP and E! Online)
D'Onofrio had been rehearsing a strenuous scene including climbing before he fainted on location in Brooklyn, according to NBC Universal Television Studio, which produces the crime drama.
I guess using Sarrach's logic, Lindsay Lohan was also hospitalized and broke up with her boyfriend because she was upset Kerry lost.
What a crock.
I'm sick and tired of Letterman and Leno starting their shows with snide comments that are supposed to be jokes about the President. Someone needs to let them know that the campaign and election are over. Their attempt to sway voters didn't work--they can now "give it a rest" and just suck it up.
This dude needs to get a REAL life and come out of that fantasy world he lives in everyday.
Who is that guy? Nice enough looking, but he needs a shave, for cryin out loud!
Thank you! I have posed a question on these threads in the past....that has never really been answered (well, to my satisfaction, anyway!). I think this union-control thing may be the key, and I hadn't thought of it. Also, is it not true that there are a very limited # of film ditributors (power in the hands of few), and they gotta be 'kept happy' or no one sees your film?
Here's the question (with set-up):
Isn't it obvious (to Freepers at least, I think) that Hollyweird is not about the $$?
It is odd, to me, that this is an exception to the 'love of money' rule!
Think about it! How many more Zillions of dollars would they have, if they made quality films? Do they not see this?
Where is today's "10 Commandments"? Charlton Heston? Audie Murphy? Gary Cooper? John Wayne? Jimmy Stewart? (FReeper film wonks could certainly add to the list!) With the exception of Mel Gibson, "The Incredibles", and very few others, we get what? one or two family-watchable films a year?
I don't buy the notion it's "about money"! I think it's more about power, and their little isolated enclaves of self-congratulatory holier-than-thou, save-the-whales/environmental bloviation. The've got a higher purpose, don't you stoopid red-stater, bible-thumpin hicks get it?
Billy Ray Cyrus is from Kentucky, just like the young Marine whose photo is now famous.
Gay Teamsters?!? LOL!!!
I look to Madonna for moral inspiration. Her life and career have been dedicated to uplifting all that is good and pure. It is inspiring that she is speaking out on these issues. (Does she wear her pointy bra while doing so?) Her "positive" influence on America continues on and on and on and on and on and on...............
The thing I always remember about Ms. Roberts - I think of it when I see her in a movie on tv (not paying for it) so it definitely is getting in the way of her career - is the way she trashed Mel Gibson to his face - "I can't believe you're a Republican" at an award ceremony. This, after he had given her a part in one of his movies.
Well, snicker, her looks are going - payback will be a serious bitch.
You know, if Muslims
win, Madonna would be forced
to cover her face!
Yes. That way he smells like a piece of ripened Camembert.
Judy, I think they're girlymen.
Well that is if you consider his overwrought performances acting. CI doesn't hold a candle to SVU. I stand by my criticism. He is probably PO's that her show is ten times better than his.
Left, sadly.
Yeah Duke, but it won't stand!
They don't know how to act like real men, so they try looking like the "marlboro" man by not shaving.
Something about girly-men that is just so pathetic...I can see them all sitting in the salon with the little caps on getting their hair highlighted.
Good point. Panty-waisted pseudo-men trying to look masculine. That's one thing that I find amusing about modern war movies -- narcissistic liberal sissies playing tough, brave men.
I probably have more testosterone.
