This thread honors the service and sacrifice of our Armed Forces, and reminds us of why we here at home can go about our daily business in peace. Street-to-street is the toughest type of warfare. Air cover is being flown by pilots from the USS John F. Kennedy, as well as the U.S. Air Force from bases in the area.
You are right, darn it! God bless all of the soldiers, young and old, and God bless the parents who let them be the brave ones, and give them to our America, and God bless our President who loves them all! I know he wouldn't trade one hair on their heads for all the world if he didn't know it is absolutely necessary to keep us here at home safe from these monsters!

Thanks for that link! I will put something extra together and send it when I send out my package for my adopted soldier through Soldiers' Angels (another great site).
We can't do enough for these guys.
Great pictures! Awesome...God bless them and keep them safe.
May God Bless and Protect our Troops
Neither can I, as you can judge by my tagline. I am an absolute sucker for dogs.
God bless them all.
Urban warfare is messy and violent.
Can you give me the link for the Soldiers' Angels site? I've been looking for something like that.
You're welcome. Thought you'd be interested.
I'm so glad to hear that, but....I still don't think it's enough for what they do. At least it's a step in the right direction, though.
I have noticed a tremendous number of outside groups and organizations out there designed to further help our military families. I donate to quite a few of them so I get alot of stuff in the mail, plus I see stuff on t.v. and of course, here on FR.
Have you noticed the additional support, and has it been helpful? I just think we cannot do enough for these men and women and their families.
And may I say thank you to your husband for his service to our country and to you for your sacrifice as well.
Yes, and sometimes there's no other way.
A retired Army officer friend of mine is despirately trying to lose enough weight to get back in quickly.
Sometimes, you got to do whatever you need to do to stop vermin like those terrorists in Falluja.
Great thread.
Sending prayers for all the troops involved.
I've been busy writing Christmas cards for service men and women in Iraq and Afghanistan. If anyone is interested please FReepmail patriciaruth for details.
What a beautiful -- and patriotic -- pup. Yep, my screen name is part of the registered name of one of my last two German Wirehaired Pointers. He lived to over 14 years and died this last Feb. I still have his litter sister, who turned 15 last Tuesday, Nov. 9. I've never had a dog this old before. Puppies, of course, are wonderful. But having one this age also has it's quiet pleasures.
Sure thing...

It's a great thing. You have to fill out a mini-application which costs $10, and then within a couple of days they assign you a soldier. I heard the reason they are doing this now ($10) is because anti-war leftie wackos were signing up and sending the soldiers pictures of dead babies, etc. instead of care packages.
God Bless our troops!
