Those very PC around you might take offense at you being dismayed or angry that a minority hadn't been found guilty in court.

I am delightfully stunned! I really thought the sleaze attorney would get him off.

I have no doubt he (Westerfield) did it -- (I watched the trial every day on Court TV)... he had a slime attorney, too... they knew he had killed her because he was getting ready to take a deal in return for where her body was located when, thank goodness, they found her. The DA refused to deal after that. They knew all this and couldn't introduce into evidence during the trial... but his attorneys knew and yet look at what they did to her parents who still have small children at home and had to hear it.

The DA blew the O.J. case. Should have never moved it downtown, but kept in Santa Monica (where they did get a civil judgement against him).

It is a death penalty case actually as it had the special circumstances under California law. Don't worry, few juries have the guts to give the death penalty, and if they did it would never be carried out in this liberal state.

Ah, figured so. If you're not from here, there's no way you would know.

Picture this: four vehicles, all at a 4-way stop intersection.

Nobody will take a move.

That pretty well sums it up. I'm not joking.

I don't understand the guilty verdict re the baby. A fetus isn't a human being according to every state in the union. How can Peterson be found guilty of murder for 'killing' a mass of tissue?

The double murder is the only 'special circumstance' that was proven. If he gets death it'll get thrown out on appeal by either California or the 9th circuit Court of Appeals.

Not that I agree that a fetus isn't a human - but in the law, I value consistency above virtually anything else.

So, if your wife turns up missing, and her body is found 80 miles away at the very same place you claim you were during the time she goes missing, we can just all assume you're innocent, right?

After you've checked the tides on the very day and at the very spot where YOU are and where her body shows up?

After you've made four or five anchors to use in a boat nobody else knows you have and you don't fish in -- that are missing now?

After you've told your new girl friend that your wife is dead two weeks before she goes missing?

After you've tried to sell your and your wife's home, fully furnished, before she's been missing a month?

We can just all assume it's your bad luck?

And if Laci was YOUR daughter? You'd be, what?? Fishing?

As long as I have been here, I have never understood why people come onto threads they disapprove of and preach to those of us who are interested in the topic.

Same reason everyone else does: to weigh in on some issue.

If she were my daughter, I'd take an interest. Since she's not, I don't feel a burning need to know every nuance of the trial of the murdering dirtbag who killed her. Try him, fry him, and tell me at the end of it. I don't care what Geragos had for lunch or the expression on the face of the third juror.

OJ's defense cynically made the case about white racist law enforcement against the ever-oppressed black man in America. They banked on the mostly black jury playing along, and they certainly did. There was no way they were going to let "whitey" get one of their icons. Cochran knew this. Marcia and the rest of the prosecution were clueless. They thought that any jury would surrender to the technical presentation of their mountain of scientific evidence. It was no contest. The OJ case was lost at during jury selection.
