I don't see President Bush claiming a damn thing about superiority over Reagan.

Stand down.

Thank you! Now, if I had only made those additional 12,000 phone calls I didn't get around to. I blame myself. :(

A hidden story here is NY. Last week I did analysis based on USA results. Totaling percentage gains by county Bush gained in I think 45 counties and over 1000%. Kerry in 5 and 300%; but 3rd party candidates lost by 3000%. Kerry basically picked up the 3rd party voters from 2000 and made very small overall gain. Bush gained over half a million voters. Bush lost votes in 1 county; Kerry in 25.

I respectfully disagree. President Bush will best John Kerry by at least 4,000,000 votes!!!

Diana, no need to feel bad. The Republican turnout for Pres. Bush in WI (and in MN) was absolutely fantastic. The Dems turned out a few more this year, but Pres. Bush's showing bodes well for 2008 and beyond. WI and MN are becoming increasingly Republican.

I well remember becoming aware of extreme media bias during the Reagan era, but I will argue with anyone who claims it is no worse now than it was then. It was ten times (nay, 100 times) worse this past election cycle with ALL pretense thrown aside, plus the Soros, Moore, dems gone even more extreme, etc. fronts that Bush had to battle.

Bush is on parity with Reagan's achievement in my book having succeeded the execrable Clinton era and having to fight horrendous enemies, both foreign and domestic (yes, Reagan had the Cold War--I said parity, not supremacy---yet. Truth is, I think Bush will emerge in history as Reagan's heir and will eventually be deemed "greater than").

New York and California were the only real bastions of support for Kerry. See #48.

Great thanks are owed to Gov. Jeb Bush, Ralph Reed, Karl Rove and of course, Pres. Bush who is one of the greatest campaigners ever. He did an awesome job in 2002 and hit a grand slam in 2004!

When and where do we get Senator Ralph Reed?

I recall disagreeing with you over turnout because I didn't think American's would overcome the trend against non-participation. They did.

Unless he gets to 59% of the vote, he can't claim any superiority over Ronaldus Maximus.

No one can take away the impressive win that Reagan had, but you have to consider that, while Reagan had a great deal of media opposition, I don't think he had anything like what was thrown at President Bush. There is really no equivalent in history of coordinated attacks against the incumbent president like occurred in this election. The anti-Bush 527 groups were much more funded and active than the few anti-Kerry 527 groups. Fox News said that the anti-Bush groups spent $400 million to unseat Bush. Also, no president has had the blatantly open attempts to unseat him like happened with CBS/Rathergate and ABC/HalperinMemoGate. No president has had a lie-filled feature-length movie (F-9/11) released in major theaters during the summer before the election, with DVD's released weeks before the election. If these attempts to unseat Bush had not occurred and not been as effective as they were, I believe Bush would have won with at least as big an electoral landslide as Reagan did.

Bush's percentage is actually just shy of 51%. You have to include the Nader and Other votes in the total before calculating the percentage. When those are included, Bush has 50.96% and Kerry has 48.08%.

I agree with you and you are right, however, they're easy to overlook...they're supposed to support their candidate. (Which gives some idea why Tennessee was what really lost the 2000 election for Gore.)

These totals don't include Nader and others so the real % may be somewhat different.
