Weeks, not months.....sure.

"If we don't have credibility, we'll cease to be. "
So, the headline should have been "CBS anounces elimination of news division."
To: Paul Atreides
No. Mapes will be canned and Rather will retire by the end of '05.

"We made a serious mistake."
All can see that it was a calculated attempt to deceive, and NOT a mistake. Stop lyin' Buster.

I don't recall any admissions to a "serious mistake" but only lame acknowledgment of possibly being wrong. Oh, I see, now that the election is over they can admit it was serious. Well, apology NOT accepted.

Even before this scandal hit Rather had already said he was gone next year, I believe April.

"I guarantee you that CBS will do whatever it takes to get our credibility back. If we don't have credibility, we'll cease to be. That's our coin of the realm," Hey pal, let me fill you in on what everyone already knows. You have no credibility, and you've "ceased to be" a long time ago.

"Look, we made a terrible mistake." Sorry Bob. Bill Buckner made a terrible mistake.
What SeeBS and Dan Rather did was willfully and with malice aforethought, lie and knowingly present false and doctored eveidence to support a story that was aimed at influencing a Presidential election.
Rather should consider himself lucky if he is only fired.

Will Rather Be Dumped? (We can only hope!)
But he should be FORCED to do the Presidential election-day/night coverage
until he dies.

I dont think Rather will be "dumped."
I think he will be allowed to announce his (long overdue) "retirement", sometime next year.
To: Paul Atreides
I can't figure out what's taking the "internal investigation" so long to figure out the obvious. CBS lied to further their politcal agenda, vast repairs are needed.

I hope not. I want the talking heads of the three major MSM to remain and ride their news organizations Right into the toilet. I honestly believe that the unfair coverage they gave Bush and the favorable coverage they gave Kerry in the end helped Bush win the election. The majority of the people are starting to see what they really are.

Has he always been as mentally unstable as he is now? I never watched him (my father wouldn't let me!) until a few times recently. What I see is a man who appears to be suffering from dementia.
