It cost about $7,500 per head to school a kid in California. Care to guess the average number of kids in an illegal's family, then multiply by that number. Explain how they could possibly pay enough property taxes to make it a break even deal.
Then you'd be breaking the law, but go right ahead.
The problem with that is this...
According to the White House fact sheet on the proposal, the temporary worker program is intended "to match willing foreign workers with willing U.S. employers when no Americans can be found to fill the jobs."
Illegal aliens are already matched with employers because they are working illegally. That gives them "an advantage over those who have followed the rules."
Jorge; No, your recollection is wrong.
itsahoot; No he isn't wrong George.
Prove it then. Show me the posts.
It no surprise that the same posters who falsely accuse Bush of being for blanket amnesty will also accuse any of the rest of us as well.
I hope your right. I doubt the MSM will be enthusiastic about it but they're not the only game in town anymore.
Amnesty means if you're here in the USA and you can prove you've been here for some period of time .. you can be given US citizenship.
That is not in anyway related to the Bush plan.
The worker plan, as I understand it, requires the employer to contract with specific migrant workers for a specific job for a specific period of time.
We spent an entire evening arguing the point, Jorge. Have you AIDS Dementia?
Nope. I am, however, not feeble minded - like you.
Excellent way of putting it.
We will soon have a low-skill labor force that is subsidized by the income taxpayer. So much for wages being part of "supply and demand".
Where will this end?
"That was the case with Wal-Mart."
Unfortunately you are incorrect. The employer of the illegals was a subcontractor for Walmart. Walmart was guilty of not checking the I-9's of it's subcontractor's illegal employees.
Destruction of the uppity middle class.
Can't you contribute anything other than wild accusations and name-calling to this discussion?
You wish you had the excellent and upstanding reputation Howlin has on FR.
That's never been the definition of amnesty in the past. For example, the Reagan amnesty didn't do that.
The worker plan, as I understand it, requires the employer to contract with specific migrant workers for a specific job for a specific period of time.
Generally, yes, that's how a guest worker program should work, but the rub is in the details. Tancredo's proposal operates on that principle for legitimate migrants without legalizing any illegal aliens. The Bush proposal legalizes illegal aliens who've been working illegally, and gives them an advantage over guest worker applicants who've followed the rules and aren't yet matched with a prospective employer.
It won't until something big happens. Until then, the only compassion they have is for illegal aliens. To hell with us tax payers.
Wal Mart is an innocent party when they've been busted before? Can you say plausible deniability?
Not quite yet. They need us to keep electing RINOs and paying taxes to make their invasion easier.
The last time I heard of this program, it consisted of them filling out the paperwork, having to prove they have a job. If they have a job, they would be made to pay taxes, then leave when the job is over.
If it is still that, it doesn't seem an amnesty at all, and I would expect the Mexican government would be disappointed with that kind of result.
Has another plan come to surface? If so, what would be the difference?
Thanks.
Oh, so now that you can't prove "hypocritical" you've moved on to "feeble minded."
BTW, just so you'll know, that's ONE WORD.
Such is your opinion.BTW, how are is the drug cocktail working?
