Judge Alfred Delucchi surprised court observers when he dismissed juror No. 5 only hours after the jury had resumed deliberations.

On Tuesday, juror No. 7, a woman from San Mateo County, California, was also taken off the jury and deliberations had started up again.

No reasoning given (or leaked) yet, but it has to do with juror misconduct or a health problem. A judge can't just dismiss a juror because s/he does not agree with the other jurors.

In my county, this trial would have been over two months ago and Peterson would be on death row today.

Yeah, the same would be true in my county. Seems like it's the blue states that have a problem with convicting criminals.

No wonder the feds try to steer their terrorism trials to red states.

Actually, no he's not.. This is exactly how our legal system is suppose to process.

Everything is working fine for the situations that have arisen.

The judge is following the law to book.

Peterson's buffoon media-hound lawyer Geragos failed to put on a convincing defense, and the prosecution had ample evidence. Plus, Peterson's did everything, short of wearing a t-shirt proclaiming "I killed Laci," to implicate himself. Yet this is likely to go to mistrial. Unbelievable!

Only in the "stupid Liberal" Bay Area, could such a "cut and dried" case create so much confusion among jurors.

(In the OJ case, the jurors knew he was guilty but didn't care.)

Yesterday, two cabinet members resigned and we were in the middle of major military operations in Iraq. 3 out of 4 of the news programs I watched or listened to started with the Peterson trial. Sheesh

Heard this on the car radio. Was hoping to find more info here but I see there has been no hint of why.

Great, MSNBC plays a clip of Justin the jerk opining about either the dismissed or replacement juror.

Gack

Justin Falconer and Nancy Grace were on Greta last night discussing the dismissed juror (#7). Justin gave his opinion of the dismissed juror and her replacement and Nancy challenged his opinion, claiming that he wasn’t there long enough to know her (4 weeks). Grace asked how well he could possibly know the jurors in question and Justin responded with something like, “Better than you!” Smack down on Grace! I’ll at least give Grace credit for admitting that Justin “had her.”

Greta doesn't have to stop talking about this, yet, I guess. She's milking this for all she can.

The judge shouldn't have allowed some of these yahoos to be seated.

IMO, of course.

Great. Now Fox will dedicate another 4 hours of programming to this stupid case instead of focusing on our boys in Iraq trying to do something that matters.

Added for clarification: I think what happened to Laci is terrible and feel for her family. If Petersen is guilty, I hope he fries. I just dont think this case merits the national attention in the press and the sensationalism it has been receiving.
