BTW, I think Hugh Hewitt is correct; Specter ain't a great friend, but he would make one mean enemy.

The question is, can the GOP keep Mr. Magic Bullet on a tight leash...

I think he's more a liability as a friend than an enemy.
Plus, if he considers Justice Sandra Day O'Connor and Justice Anthony Kennedy to be pro-life, he has worse issues than I thought.

I am sure he is also kind to animals.
So what?
To: billybudd
Problem is I haven't heard anyone else say he is a decent guy.

I'd just as soon have a rattlesnake in my sleeping bag as Specter in my party.

Mr. Magic Bullet?
He would do well to convince "Mr. and Mrs. Gunowner" that he won't turn on them.
The gunnies aren't waiting.

If one has to tell others that he is a "decent guy", he isn't.

Specter speaks: "I'm a pretty decent guy..."There are millions and millions of aborted (i.e., murdered) children who would have voiced a different opinion if they could after being dismembered, smothered, burned with saline solution, ripped apart, etc.

WE can make Arlen Specter think we are Attila the Hun.

No kidding. Specter's list of "pro-life" justices icludes: Chief Justice William Rehnquist, Justice Antonin Scalia, Justice Sandra Day O'Connor, Justice Anthony Kennedy and Justice Clarence Thomas. That's 5 of the 9 justices. If that was the case, then there wouldn't be much of an abortion debate left. But in his defense, perhaps he confused Bush v. Gore with Roe v. Wade...

Prior to his election, Spector was interviewed by two different papers and told them both he was pro-choice! This guy needs to go over to the other side! He is no conservative

Balony! He is just saying what he thinks is necessary for him to get the Chairman's position.
His original outburst was how he actually felt.
He would have been more comfortable under aerry Presidency as he and John Kerry have more in common than he and President Bush do.
To wit: Abortion, gay marriage, defending terrorists, depriving law abiding citizens of the right to own and possess firearms.

No, the cannot. Once he is in the position he is home free.
The Republicans need to deny him the Chairman's position.
Whatever he does after that is up to him.
If he jumps, so what, he votes against us on important matters anyway.

Yup, im with Hugh too. The media is trying to divide us on this and we bit hard. Let's focus on the 2006 senate elections instead.
