Media elite just don't understand feelings of the majority
St. Petersburg Times ^ | November 10, 2004 | Letters to the Editor

Posted on 11/10/2004 1:00:58 AM PST by Cincinatus' Wife

As the depth of President Bush's victory became apparent last week, I wondered exactly how the Democratic Party would spin the results. Although the DNC itself has been somewhat reserved, its spinmeisters in the press have been in full throat. Many of these nationally recognized editorialists have become completely unhinged by Bush's victory; some actually accusing those us who voted for the president as being part of an American religious jihad.

This broad-brush swipe at conseratives just shows the inability of the media elite to understand not only why they lost this election, but also why they will continue to lose at the national level for years to come. They truly do not understand what a majority of Americans feel in their gut.

There are many conseratives like myself. Although we rarely go to church, we certainly identify with many of values that our church-going brethren espouse. We are not bigoted because we disagree with same-sex marriage. We are not intolerant because we believe that life begins at conception. We are not monsters because we understand the value of ridding the world of tyrants, regardless of how the French feel about it.

It is fitting justice that this president was re-elected despite the efforts of the media, Hollywood, and Eastern establishment elites. Many of us feel vindicated by the defeat of these groups that still look down their noses at "fly over" country. It's time that they take a long hard look at themselves. They are the true minority.

A keyword search should have us tripping over media bias.

The main stream media is discredited, just as public schools are discredited.

Education and journalism are the left's bully pulpit.

Ah, The St. Pete Times. Must be killing them to report Bush won.

By the way, my "free" St. Pete Times Sunday edition showed up on the day they endorsed Kerry, and I continued to get a free edition of the Times for the next two Sundays as they put forth their reasons to vote for Kerry and all things Democrat.

Then suddenly, this past Sunday (after Bush had won the election)...no more free Times waiting for me in my driveway, LOL.

Were they trying to influence the election, of course...but my measure of whom to vote for has always been to vote for the opponent of whomever they endorse.

I'm not talking about the media bias, so much as I'm talking about the left planning on faking a "moral" message.

Hey!

I thought the St. Petersburg Times only gave free deliveries when the sun didn't shine!

"We are not the far right,by and large we are the center. This shows how FAR LEFT the dems have gone, they think the middle is far right."

Yeah, I've thought that for a long time.

Another thing that means is that the situation boils down to, the left against the rest of us. If you're not a leftist, they regard you as an enemy, and it can be counterproductive to worry whether somebody is "too far" to the right.

The left has long held, "No enemies to the left."

We, on the other hand, fly into a fine tizzy any time somebody gets too extreme.

You know what I mean by "too extreme," right? That means they really, strongly oppose the left.

And fake them they do.

Their "morals" are all about feeling your pain and then demanding you fork over your money so the government can help themselves to a huge chunk.

They're motto: "How can we fool them today."

Too bad such a large number of Americans buy their caring bs. The sickening sweet "news you can use" is a good example of how msm believes average Americans are morons.

The constant politically correct mantra they've been spewing for so long has lulled a lot of Americans into their wrong way of thinking.

This election will snap a lot of people out of their stupor.

That was the Evening Independent, their afternoon paper, actually.

They did away with the afternoon edition years ago, and I think they also did away with their "sun doesn't shine" policy.

Now they only give them away when they want to influence the election, LOL.

What a pity.

That would mean they're giving away a lot more papers.

The Washington Post has a deal where you get the paper FREE all week and just pay $1.00 for the Sunday edition.

They have to get their propaganda out there, even if it means giving it away.

The image of shining bereaved women with newspaper was too delicious for me to resist, I'm afraid.

So, you have a sticky "n", eh? I know that feeling. I'm afraid I abuse keyboards terribly. My latest is a cordless, wireless model. I spilled a bunch of soda in it when it was less than a week old. Thank goodness pouring mass quantities of alcohol in it & letting it dry out for a couple of days worked. That was months ago.

About a week ago a couple of my keys started to act strange. I halfway took the thing apart & found some little broken plastic thingy wedged where it didn't belong, so after removing it, I reassembled & most of the idiosyncrasies have stopped. It's still not quite right, but there is something just wrong about a keyboard's first set of batteries lasting longer than the keyboard.

This election will snap a lot of people out of their stupor.

I hope that is the case, but I'm afraid there are too many of us with the attention spans & memories of gnats. It's why I think it might be a good idea to collect the instances where they've let their masks down.

They're openly showing their future strategy right now. Someone needs to keep copies of the "Jesusland" maps to hang around the necks of blue staters who try to speak the language of faith.
