To resolve any concern that I would block pro-life judicial nominees, take a look at my record. I have consistently opposed any litmus test. I have backed that up by voting to confirm pro-life nominees including Chief Justice William Rehnquist, Justice Antonin Scalia, Justice Sandra Day O'Connor and Justice Anthony Kennedy. I led the fight to confirm Justice Clarence Thomas, which almost cost me my Senate seat in 1992.
I have voted for all of President Bush's judicial nominees in committee and on the floor.
The current controversy was artificially created by incorrect reporting. I never "warned" the president on anything--and especially not that I'd block pro-life nominees.

I merely noted the political facts of life.
(snip)
I am committed, in word and deed, to prompt action by the Judiciary Committee. Last April, I introduced Senate Resolution 327, a protocol to establish prompt action on all judicial nominees.
(snip)
I was also among the first to call for a marathon, round-the-clock debate to draw attention to the Democratic obstruction, which we held in November 2003. I made 17 floor statements to protest Democratic filibusters on nominees including Miguel Estrada and Charles Pickering.

I hope that this review of my record clarifies the misperceptions.

To resolve any concern about back-stabbing RINO Scottish Law Snarlin' Arlen, just make sure that he never becomes chairman of the judiciary committee. Bork him if necessary.

economic conservatives are getting in to the mix
Why did he sink Bork? ...before my time....
To appease the pro-aborts at NOW and NARAL. Shameless pandering to the abortion lobby in the hope of picking up more female votes.
Specter can squirm as much as he likes.
We all know what he is, what he's done and what he'll do if he gets the chance.
He must be stopped.
Thanks. Enough said.
My bottom dollar says he will be Chairman with very little Senate opposition.
He lies to get what he wants.
Hmmmm... he called Sandra Day O'Connor a pro-life nominee?
If his appointment were in the bag, he wouldn't be campaigning in the Wall Street Journal.
Specter will be Chairman. Bank on it.
Methinks he dost protest too much!
(Sorry, Will!)
Apparently all pro-life organizations and their many thousands of workers are now refusing to campaign for or vote for anyone who supports Specter.
(I'm one of them too.)
WOW. We made a difference. Even if he stumbles over the finnish line, these statements restrict his actions.
Hey Specter, BORK!
Hey Specter, Clarence Thomas for Chief Justice!
Hey Specter, Challenge my CINC!
Hey Specter, Tell the people, (36 hours after re-electing President Bush) that you are the new DASHOLE!
Hey Specter, Watch us stomp a mud hole in your ass!
Hey Arrrlaaannn - You have been weighed and measured - found to be wanting - Bye - bye - you are about to be fired - turkey lips - take your millions and just go - get out of our lives ... finally!
Time to clean house on the Senate and the Reps - United we stand.
BS.
His whole career has persistently supported death and other globalist values, goals and ideals.
George Soros, his prime supporter, has bragged this week that he's going to have to short circuit Bush's running of the country and force submission to the global government sooner than expected.
Such brazen arrogance.
Specter is of similar stripe and his dedication to infanticide and other gloablist values and laws has been persistent and consistent. His whole career is testamony to such a litmus test--it either supports the global government's values and goals, or he's against the person and issue.
