Does he belive that the 2nd Amendment is an individual right and not a collective one?

Hmmmm, very interesting but I fear his age and the Demonrat liberals thinking him a traitor might be a bit risky. I could be wrong. I think he was very brave in endorsing Dubya and I would hope the Republicans can repay him in some way.

Does Rudy want it?

Koch was an extremely popular mayor and was able to guide NYC through a very rough economic patch in the late 70's. There are a lot in NY who still regard Hitlery as a carpetbagger. What I'm not sure of is whether or not registered Republicans can vote in Democrat primaries in NY.

I think Rudy wants to be president, in which case he cannot risk a loss in the senatorial election.

Both Rudy and Larry Thompson are very capable and extremely qualified, but looking at the long view, I think you are right.

As much as I like the idea of Rudy as AG or Homeland Security, I think we need him more in New York getting set up to put the proverbial stake through Hillary's presidential ambitions by knocking her out of the Senate.

Rudy has MAJOR clout in New York these days and it would be a shame to waste it.

The job of AG is a thankless one. Larry Thompson has served capably as Ashcroft's deputy and has proved he has the grit and determination to do it right.

This is really a no-brainer.

Rudy made his name as a prosecutor and he has always talked about how much he enjoyed it. I think he would take it in a second. The other plus is that Guiliani would have a very easy confirmation, I'm not sure Bush wants to risk another battle like he had with Ashcroft.

I never thought of that. Good idea. How about Koch running in NY as the Republican in 2006?

Koch, by his own admission is a die-hard liberal on everything except the war on terror. Sean Hannity has lived in NY most of his life, he could beat Hitlery.

It is going to be hard to beat HC with a no name like Rick Lazio. You will need a big name New Yorker. Unfortunately I think they will have to be somewhat liberal to win in NY.

Rudy has already declined publicly - being AG would not fit well with any plans he has to campaign for president in 2007-08

YES! PLEASE MR PRESIDENT...LARRY THOMPSON FOR ATTORNEY GENERAL

As with all of our "looks like America" people, their race is irrelevant. Thompson is a superstar, he held law enforcement together after 9/11. He would be a fantastic AG. His race is nice extra, but meaningless.

It would probably be a big pay cut for Thompson.
