The public is now assaulted by news and pretend-news from many directions, thanks to the now infamous "information superhighway." But the ability to transmit words, we learned during the Citizens Band radio fad of the 70s, does not mean that any knowledge is being passed along. One of the verdicts rendered by election night 2004 is that, given their lack of expertise, standards and, yes, humility, the chances of the bloggers replacing mainstream journalism are about as good as the parasite replacing the dog it fastens on.

Jealousy.
They're bitter because the Dan Rathers of the now infamous MSM have lost the monopoly on "pretend" reporting.
A bit snobbish, aren't we?
Talk about the pot calling the kettle black! Someone at SeeBS had the gall to post this? What a joke! SeeBS is the ultimate queen of pretend news (NY Slimes being the king).
Does that not describe CBS?
"Attention Mr. Engberg....A Mr. Irony holding on line 2..."
"as good as the parasite replacing the dog it fastens on."
But the dog's dead, Ericboy.
Yeah, he's way bitter. Notice the article didn't mention RatherGate, ABC's MemoGate, DraftGate, or the millions of contervailing (to leftist propaganda) opinions offered on line. Even if these opinions are sometimes 'not professional', the net effect is to lessen the 'bias-wave' coming from the CLM (Corrupt Liberal Media, of which CBS is High Priest).
Also, Drudge, Powerline, and some other blogs (not A. Sullivan's!) are more and more producing stories that completely scoop the CLM - can anyone say "Monica Lewinski or Swift Boat Vets"?
Drudge said that Kerry was "within striking distance" in the two states, which he certainly was for most of the evening. Drudge also qualified the early exit poll info pretty quickly because I don't think he was all that convinced by it. I'm not sure about the other blogs since I don't follow them, but all Drudge did was broadcast a wakeup call for the Republican GOTV effort. My impression was that the MSM clung to the "Kerry surging" fallacy a lot longer than the blog world did.
hehehehe CBS talking about standards and expertise hehehehe
Like CBS, NBC, ABC, NPR, CNN, etc., etc.
Isn't normal blogging editorializing? Is that or is that not journalism (seriously)?
That being said, it's just too bad the the MSM really is going the way of the dinosaur.
There are too many people, with too many facts at their fingertips, with access to the internet, and the anonymity it provides, to let hte MSM get away with anything anymore.
The blogosphere may not replace the MSM in the next 10 years but it can sure do a hit job on any of the MSM that try to play fast and loose.
Oh...! We have committed the sin of lacking humility! Now it all is coming into focus....!
You know, there was a day when we had very few news sources and these thoughtful, America-hating schmucks were gazed upon as demi-Gods, but now that's gone --we have choices.
You know what? America is leaving network news in droves; Wal-Mart Willie and Costco Kathy are SICK of them. There are certain market and technological forces that are coming to bear on news people, and they are LOSERS.
All that, and yet WE should learn humility? HAHAHAHA!
Sour grapes from a reporter who doesn't have a monopoly on that info anymore..
Dan Rather, "Bloggers are not the boss of me!"
