Reporting that AG Ashcroft and Commerce Sec Don Evans have resigned.
Good.
That would cause many on the left to suffer a massive stroke wouldn't it!
I'd rather have Rudi Guliani as Chief Justice. He's a real leader as well as a better attorney. But both Ashcroft and Guliani have the No. 1 qualification - no prior federal judicial experience. I distrust the whole federal bench. We need some real people with proven real world ability there. The Supremes in particular have lost it - they have problems figuring out the real world effects of their decisions even in technical legal matters.
Larry Thompson if I'm remembering correctly.
I read some rumblings that his health has suffered under the strain of the WOT here at home. I think one of his aides said that, though they were 'anonymous' so I'm not sure how much credence to give it.
If I dig up a source, I'll post it for you.
Ashcroft will be replaced by his righthand man, whose name escapes me. A good, conservative African American as I recall who has gotten real high marks. He'll drive the left nuts...
It is tradition, and there are several who will want to go back to private life. Apparently the President wants to do this in stages, though, rather than have a wholesale change all at once. This first-term group has been a remarkably loyal and steadfast cabinet. I hope the next group serves the President and the country as well as the first termers have.
You have the wrong guy. Google 4:20.
Reporting that AG Ashcroft and Commerce Sec Don Evans have resigned.FOX News confirms .....
"I'll warrant that Castle Bush couldn't nominate a conservative, strict-constructionist justice to save their lives. It just isn't in them."
IMHO...I think they could nominate them...but it's gonna depend on who is the Chair of the Senate Judiciary starting in January as to whether they get approved.
Don Evans is from Midland Tx and he is a great person and a close friend to President Bush. John Ashcroft is a man who has wanted to resign, because of health issues, plus he knows he is not a very popular figure in the administration, but I am sure both of them were wanted to extend their admin by W... but this happens often in 2 terms.
Ashcroft has had a rough time, and that's putting it mildly, plus he's had medical problems...gall bladder. Liberals tarred and feathered him over and over, a bit like Bork and Justice Thomas. Nobody should have to put up with abuse like that.
Not Orrin Hatch 'et'
Thanks. See my no. 86 reply. I've heard good things about him...
Hey, I'm coming to like the sight and sound of lefties losing their minds. That nomination could yield WEEKS of knee slapping hysterical rants to see and hear.
(Did I mention that I have a largestock position in the companies that make "Adult Protective Undergarments"?)
Roodee! Roodee! Roodee!
we need to spread the rumor that Ashcroft is going to be the next SCOTUS nominee, just to mess with libs
Hmm, I think Scalia has the inside track.
Ted Olsen...
