KSL Radio "Unofficial" Online Poll
Q: Would you like to see Orrin Hatch replace John Ashcroft as U.S. Attorney General?
73% : Yes
27% : No
Normally I wouldn't mind, he's a U of Utah alum (GO UTES BTW!) but IIRC, he supported the Brady Bill back in the day and I want some fire and brimstone in my GOPers and that's just not his style.
Next.
The best chance of that happening sooner rather than later is if he gets the AG slot. If he stays in the Senate he has already served notice here in Utah that he wants at least one more term. That means he would stay in Washington for eight more years. If he becomes AG, he'll be gone in four.
I live in the Leningrad of Washington State and vote an emphatic NO to Hatch. As someone who knows him relates, "Senator Hatch listens to no one but himself." And, on key issues he either folds or doesn't get the implications of his viewpoints. NO, THANKS.
Still, I would rather have him enforcing the law for four years than writing the law and voting on SCOTUS justices for eight more years.
(BTW, I am a Ute alum. I'm loving this Urban Meyer springtime! Now it we could only get the BCS folks to take us seriously.)
NO. Absolutely NOT! He's one of the nutballs proposing that naturalized citizens be allowed to become President of the US (people like Soros comes to mind....).
You would rather have him writing the law and voting on SCOTUS justices for eight more years?
LOL - that's a good one - I hafta agree!
I would beg to differ. There were substantiated sightings of ol' Orrin hosting in Slick Willy to his Utah hideout during the Impeachment days. AFTER this little meeting, the GOP in the Senate CAVED on having a real hearing. I don't trust Orrin "Booby" Hatch any further than I can throw him (and I'm a girl ;-).
The question remains, would you like to see him gone in four years, or do you prefer that he remain in the Senate for eight more years where he can write legislation with Ted Kennedy and compromise with liberals over the appointment of new SCOTUS justices?
Life isn't fair and rarely gives us the exact option we prefer. We are usually presented with two imperfect options at best.
True, I don't have much doubt that he'd do a bang-up job (excuse the play on words) as the AG, it's just his support for the Brady Bill doesn't put my mind at ease.
(BTW, this year's Ute team is great to watch, although I thought we were better defensively last year when we had Josh Savage and Arnold Parker. That and....after the '94 season when we were ranked in the top ten and lost to New Freakin' Mexico, I thought it would take at least another 30 years to get back there w/ McBride still the HC. Now here we are back there again. Let's just hope the BCS feels so kind as to invite us into their little clique this year. LET'S GO UTES!!)
Agreed. An unfairly maligned man, IMO. Imagine a RAT turning the other cheek as he did in 2000.
Yes, but what a four years. Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee...
No way---Hatch for AG is almost as bad as Specter for Judiciary.
I hope this doesn't mean that Pres. Bush is going to fill key spots with RINO's. Talk about a stab in the back to conservatives who gave him the election.
No way for Hatch. We need someone strong to enforce the laws in this country.
Who else is a possibility? Let's get support behind someone else starting right NOW.
Other possibilities...?
Yes--anyone but that male Janet Reno in New York. We don't need an immoral AG.
Answer: No.
Or no, but only if we don't get Caligula in his place. We need a decent, morally conservative AG--not a New York liberal lefty.
orrin hatch strikes me as little wierd.
YEEEEEESSSSSSS!!!....So Bush can fire him. Too bad Rendell's a Rat, else Bush could hire and fire Specter too.
Here's my vote, Hell no, Hatch needs to be put out
to pasture the sooner the better.
