I fail to see the humor in most of these posts.

Hard to tell, the shots we saw showed a guy standing by the window with arms folded and another to the left standing around. This was on the top floor of the building.

I knew that many people were killed by spouses/sig. others, but didn't know the numbers were that high. Especially sad when the woman is pregnant and a totally innocent child is killed too.

Me too. FNC's coverage is spotty so it is nearly impossible to find anything out.

City On Tactical Alert Due To Hostage Situation

POSTED: 9:14 am PST November 9, 2004
UPDATED: 9:56 am PST November 9, 2004

LOS ANGELES -- The Los Angeles Police Department put the city on tactical alert Tuesday, and evacuated the area around the Mexican Consulate General due to a hostage situation.

The Consulate spokeswoman said the incident occurred inside the building.

Witnesses said a man came into the Consulate with a gun and held up a female cashier.

The suspect brought a female hostage outside building, and was shot by police. The hostage appeared to be unharmed.

LAPD took the man into custody with injuries and was transported to a local hospital, according to NBC4's Justin Jaeger.

The Mexican Consulate General is located at 2401 W. 6th Street in the Westlake District in Los Angeles.

Police shut down a major area surrounding MacArthur Park near the intersection of 6th and Parkview.

Yes, and while true, there is no reason to spend over a year discussing one case in particular that is no more horrifying than any other. Like we were supposed to be shocked the husband did it. Like we don't watch Law and Order.

Daaaah...

I didn't think that Mexico was part of the Coallition in Iraq.. are they?

So if not...; what's the Islammofacist's beef with Mexico, anyway?

Are the perps threatening to decapitate their prey?

Are the Kalifornica Mooslims afraid that the Mexican "Undocumented immigrants" are giving them too much competition in infiltrating, outpopulating, and subjugating the Despised Nation of Infadels?

It just gets curiouser and curiouser, don't it ???~{B^{*~

I have a weird legal question.

If the LAPD have to storm the consulate, does that not imply an INVASION of a foreign country?

Does not firing shots within the compound by an arm of the Government of California constitute an act of WAR?

Just wondering.

I saw that shot. Couldn't tell if guns were involved or not. I guess what has me a bit more worried than a "normal" hostage situation is that it's at a consulate

Now tape on MSNBC showoing a gunman dragging a woman out -- SWAT team shot the guy and the hostage is OK--

Number hostages/hostage takers unknown . . .

"In 2000, 1,247 women were killed by an intimate partner. The same year, 440 men were killed by an intimate partner."

Tragic statistic.

From the way that sounds - they have someone in custody... so there are more perps in the building?

If the Mexican consulate has national soverinty, than it is considered foreign soil. LAPD Swat will have their weapons confiscated if they step foot on the property. Mexico has a "law" that states no foreign troops are allowed with weapons on their soil.

One hostage-taker held a woman outside. He was pursued and she managed to escape as police moved in and took him in custody:

Yes, all the cases like that are very sad. But Greta just gets fixated on one in particular. How about talking about warning signs that family and friends could watch for, that there might be trouble in the marriage?? How about giving information about preventing/detecting molestation of little kids??? Guess that would be too borning, and besides, could cut down on the number of cases she had to cover . . .

And BTW, I prefer NYPD Blues . . . I can ALWAYS tell who is the culprit! :-)

Saw this on tv and called my wife at work. Turns out that the building she works at is about half a block from the scene. It can be seen from the aerial shot. Too close for comfort and she was too busy to talk. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Hell, the Mexican Consulate has been holding hostage the whole West Coast of the United States for decades. So, why is this Breaking News?
