You're dodging the issue. No, the law shouldn't require that someone fix your gun. However, if he refuses to do so, the law does require that he return it to you.

I'd go back to my doctor, get another gun, and have it serviced elsewhere. No big deal.

So you would have no problem with people keeping your property because they didn't like what you planned to do with it? Can I borrow your car sometime?

That's where analogies break down.

She had a prescription. I'm sure that explaining the situation to her doctor would have gotten her another. He probably could have phoned it in to another pharmacy that very same day.

Of course, she chose to make a capital case of the whole thing. There's tort money to be made here, after all!

Keeping a script and keeping a gun are miles apart. I'm surprised you made it an issue, Modernman.
