"Abortion clinics are in business to kill unborn babies, pharmacies are in business to heal the sick. Two different missions, no?"

So you don't view a woman who suffers from anemia and profound exhaustion bcse of severe bleeding every month, and who winds up in the hospital several times a year due to hemmorhaging, to be a person in need of healing? Those D and C's she'll be forced to endure unless she takes birth control pills will be what, an inconvenience?

I believe that posts like yours will encourage women to vote dems in the next election...

It didn't seem to matter in the last two elections and I've been spreading the word since well before then.

By the way, as long as we are offering beliefs, I believe you are a left wing nut. So there!

But he has to give it back to her. He can refuse to fill the script, but he cannot refuse her the right to go elsewhere to have it filled.

Precisely. But the part about him refusing to fill it is well within his rights.

Well, you say he cannot, but in doing so you are trying to alter reality because apparently he did.

Sigh. And the reality is that I can go steal my neighbor's car, too. Of course, if I do, there will be legal consequences.

"You have to back up your statement."

No, I don't think I will.

Should read, "I can't."

"Good luck convincing anything other than a microscopic minority in this country that a single cell is a "baby.""

Only trouble with that logic is that you can extrapolate it to read "...that a two-week old foetus is a baby," "...that a foetus in the first trimester is a baby," or "that a foetus that is in the last trimester but impinges on the 'health' of the mother is a baby."

But isn't it the moral right of the pharmacist to take away the right of the woman to prevent contraception?

In a word? No.

Well, in all honesty, I have to say that there are a lot of people on FR that feel that way. It's an often encountered view on threads like these.

There are approximately 2 gazillion phramacists in this country who will fill the womens prescription. As the saying goes, lets try to keep it real.

So you don't believe that someone's moral rights come before someone else's legal rights?

I quite agree... The pharmacist hasn't the right to impose his/her values...

Of course he has the right to refuse to fill the prescription. She can go elsewhere. That is her right.

Stealing the script is a different question. She should have called the police immediately while still in the store.

The question is do pharmacist, doctors etc. have a right to refuse to participate in what they see as the detruction of human life. I think the answer to that is clear. Of course they do.

Certainly. However, a doctor does not have the right to steal your car to prevent you from having an abortion and a pharmacist does not have the right to steal your script to prevent you from getting your birth control pills.

Remember, your right to swing your fist ends where my nose begins.

I am NOT a Christian, toda la El... because these kind of posts show me how demented some of them are...

Trying to impose your values on others by force because you believe in one fairy tale or another is making you not much better than the Iranian mullahs... I thought we were better...

Maybe I am wrong!

You're a bit behind the curve. I agree that he should have given the script back, it wasn't his to keep.

Abortion clinics are in business to kill unborn babies,

In the medical world pecking order, physicians who perform abortions as the key or sole component of their practice are generally relegated to the lowest rung, somewhere below a gutter gate.

In the early 1990s Clinton sought to remove restrictions on abortions performed in military hospitals. I was in Korea at the time serving as a JAG. We checked with all the doctors and nurses at American military hospitals in the Far East and failed to find even one that was willing to perform or to assist with an abortion unless it was a bona fide emergency involving the health of the mother. Liberals such as Rep. Pat Schroeder were outraged that the docs wouldn't jump on the abortion bandwagon.

No maybes about it, you haven't been right about one issue since you showed up on FR. I think you're suffering from Kerry fatigue but fear not, h e may run again in '08.
