I would never ask. I'm comfortable with assuming.

I mean, why should a pharmacist not be allowed the right to choose?

He has the right to choose not to do his job. And his employer has the right to fire him and the state licensing board has the right to take his license away.

"What documentation have you for your 99.999% claim?"

None. Is my figure incorrect?

A pharmacist takes the hippocratic oath????

Moreover a pharmacist is bound both by his terms of employment and the rules of the state!

Congress has already passed laws protecting health care workers from involuntary participation in the taking of innocent human life.

So if I was a Dr. I could get a job at an abortion clinic, then inform them that I refuse to do abortions on moral grounds, and the clinic would be powerless to fire me for failure to perform my job duties? I suspect not.

Your right to believe...

In my religion, both the pill and RU-486 are perfectly fine!

Nowadays, they tend to describe ownership as a bundle of rights that a person has with respect to property.

Actually, you don't even get that. You get handed a bundle of priviledges, not rights.

If they were rights, they couldn't be taken away from you. As it stands what you can do with 'your' property can change with as little as a re-zoning or simple legislation.

I'm not going to go look up figures to support your claim. That's your responsibility, if you want to show others the validity of your argument. Personally, I don't care if you think you're right or not.

This is just wrong. If the pharmacist does not OWN the pharmacy they have 2 choices. Quit, or dispense drugs as the owner sees fit.

If they are the owner they can do what they please. If they are an employee, the owner can fire them or give them a raise at his pleasure.

Doesn't a pharmacist take the Hippocratic Oath? You know, the part that says:

Even if he does, no medical ethics board considers birth control pills a violation of that oath.

I'm comfortable with assuming

I'm comfortable in assuming that since you are from Illinois you not only voted for Barak Obama, but you also enjoy a sexual relationship with a donkey.

Prove me wrong.

I have a serious question for you........do you feel government has a right to take my money and give it to groups like Planned Parenthood?....or as poster teacher317 mentioned in his/ her post, to fund things that we find repugnant, such as a cross sitting in a jar of urine?

I do not support the NEA at all. Or government funded PP. I also do not support the Morailty Police though either.

My real issue here is the pharmacist that refused to give the script back to the customer. Unless you live in some tiny little nothing town with one pharmacy, you can always find another to fill the prescription. Keeping someone's prescription, when you have no idea (nor should you be asking) what they want to use it for is wrong.

Pharmacists job is to fill the Prescription, not to moralize or judge.

Private businessmen can follow their conscience. They have the right. You don't like it, don't do business there.

:-} You may not like the facts but the facts are the facts and if you read the article above you'd know I'm right. As I have stated repeatedly, I think property rights should enable the employer to terminate an employee who does not do the job assigned. The states and the Congress have taken a different view.

But your example was just as ludicrous as when Modernman posited it. It carries no weight. In America we can accomodate private property rights, those who wish to use BCP's and those who see it as destroying innocent human life without all the histrionics. A great country.

He was taking a moral stand

By refusing to give the prescription back, he has also committed theft. In many states, the victim of his crime would have had the legal right to use force to recover her property.

"You have to back up your statement."

No, I don't think I will.

Not, that is, until you ask MonaMars to back up "It amazes me to no end how many people out there think that every woman who takes birth control pills is taking them just so she can go f*#@ the football team."

Which started this.
