ElBaradei: Stripping Israel of nukes key to peace
Jerusalem Post ^ | Nov. 9, 2004 11:54 | JOSEPH NASR

Disarming Israel of its nuclear weapons is key to achieving lasting peace in the Middle East, Mohammed ElBaradei, International Atomic Energy Agency, said Monday.

"This is not really sustainable, that you have Israel sitting with nuclear weapons capability there while everyone else is part of the non-proliferation regime," Baradei told the Sydney Morning Herald.

With Iran pushing for a controversial nuclear program amid rising optimism that Germany, France and Britain might have succeeded in convincing the Islamic republic to suspend its uranium enrichment activities, Israel's nuclear capabilities create great resentment among its Muslim neighbors, ElBaradei said.

"It is a very emotional issue in the Middle East," ElBaradei noted.

ElBaradei said he hoped to convene a summit on diarmement in January of Middle East nations, including Israel, in January.

A deal between Iran and European powers, whereby it will suspend its nuclear ambitions in return for nuclear technology that can only be used for peaceful purposes, is helpful, but it will be worth little on the longer term if Israel maintained its nuclear arsenal, ElBaradei said.

"In my view, in the Middle East you are facing two options. Either we will have in the next 10, 20 years, three or four countries trying to acquire nuclear weapons and, worse, have extremist groups trying to get their hands on nuclear devices," he said.

"Or you can try to build a security structure that's built on confidence, co-operation and trust.

"My take on this is that we will probably need to do the two together in tandem. You need a security structure to undergird, if you like - protect - that peace process," he added.

ElBaradei downplayed the claims that the United States is not exercising enough pressure to persuade Israel to disarm, advocating an alternative, "I don't think it's a matter of pressure. It's a question of providing Israel with a credible alternative that they are better off without nuclear weapons."

Now that President Bush has been reelected and ElBaradei has no chance for a third term as Director General of the IAEA, his desire for the destruction of Israel can blossom.

Mohammed ElBaradei's ultimate fantasy notion of what "real, lasting peace in the Middle East" would look like, ultimately:

This much is true. I invite anyone to submit a rational plan of how Israel will be better off without them.

It can't be done.

Notice that I said "rational".

The Israelis are open about it while ElBaradei is continually flummoxed, fooled and willingly deceived by the Muslim nukers and pukers.

If I were Israel, I wouldn't give up an inch until there is
complete transparency with its Muslim neighbors.

Here we go with this moral equivalancy crap again, like there's no difference between the democratically elected Govt. of Israel and bathist thugs of Syria or the repressive theocrats of Iran.I'm thinking a strategic bombing campaign would be more effective than the IAEA.

Remember, all Muhammadans live in a fantasy world in which there will be peace in the Middle East when Israel is destroyed. Using the U. N. to try to force Israel to give up any weapons is just a step toward their goal - murdering all the Jews.

"It is a very emotional issue in the Middle East," ElBaradei noted."

Meaning what, exactly. We Arabs are very emotional about the fact that, if we mess with Israel too much, they can blow us to kindom come.

Great idea, they can ship them over to Iran, Egypt, Syria, North Korea et al via rocket or hanging under an aircraft wing. That will achieve both goals of Mr All-Boringday, peace in the Middle East and Isreal with no nukes.
