Welcome! I'm in a Blue State and a Blue County. However, I'm proud to say that at least I live in a Red Town.
Man...the libs hated that movie.
Now that I think about it, your work is cut out for you. West County and East County are pretty blue. That just leaves Central County, which is too close to Berkeley to be completely safe.
Welcome!! (from another surrounded by libs in Multnomah County, Oregon - I think you know our county comissioners.) Stay strong, but stay safe.
I really love California and have met and know many fine, friendly people there - extra friendly actually.
I totally agree with you and comiserate with you and mentioned here recently that only a little sliver of blue corrupts California along the seacoast.
We love our dear friends in California and know what a terrible burden you all bear among the crazies inhabiting San Francisco (a lovely city) and Los Angeles.
me too, I'm from the San Francisco bay area, and I'm going to college. it was actually funny how many people around here were almost in tears after Bush won. One of my professors actually said that she believed that he would be remembered as one of histories greatest war criminals. You are not alone. :)
I was in Sunnyvale this past weekend. It made me itch just being there. I asked my dad (my folks have lived there for over 50 years) what the heck has happened to the Bay Area, which used to be fairly normal.
Yep.
I love it.
Where are you now ?
I miss the Bay Area between December and March very much.
In Princeton NJ now was in Walnut Creek area b4.
I'm proud to say we live in a red HOUSE.
Move here to Orange County. We voted for Bush and our weather's better.
Welcome from another a happy blue stater.
I know what you mean. I'm a Red American here in Blue Taxachusetts (The 'Pay' State)...
Well, at least we've got Gov. Mitt Romney holding the line on taxes and spending
Welcome Aboard....Im in a blue state that is mostly red...Illinois....sigh!
Former CT Swamp Yankee here. My hometown there was about 60-40 for Kerry. Where I live now was about 65-35, so I went from bad to worse. I am considering moving back actually as my parents are getting older and could use one of us 'kids' to live nearby.
Yes, here in Waukesha County, WI there is usually over 90% voter turnout (I think this election it was 97%) and we go 70% Republican. It seems the fraud machine in Milwaukee and the liberals in Madison keep ruining it for us! Even though I'm surrounded by 'red' people where I live, it's depressing that my state keeps going blue!
I'm guessing Contra Costa went "blue" because many of the residents there commute to San Francisco and are the typical ultra-left wing radicals. I'm in Yolo county - by and large a farming community but heavily populated by a University (UC Davis) culture. I am one of the few on campus smiling...(read BIG smile). I am not rubbing it in - I'm letting them anguish in their own "coffee communities" and discussion groups. The folks around here a too removed from reality to have any meaningful discussion. They are "educated"....(sarcasm!).
I know the feeling. My county, Richmond (Staten Island) went for W 60-40, but the rest of the city's counties: New York (Manhattan), Kings (Brooklyn), Queens, and the Bronx were heavily blue and dragged the rest of New York State down with them.
I guess I never really considered the political situation before moving here. Just followed my tech degree out to the land of techies. I figured most engineer-types would be more conservative no matter where I lived.
At least Sunnyvale isn't as bad as Marin or SF.
I just "officially" signed up today, but I've been a lurker here since early 2000.
You could say that I'm another red speck in a sea of blue...
