Holland: mosques, Muslim school attacked

Vigilante attacks like these are always wrong. I hope the Dutch government will take firm action against those who perpetrated them, as well as firm action against not only the murderer of Theo van Gogh, but against the Islamic assumptions and attitudes that motivated the killer.

From AP:

THE HAGUE, Netherlands (AP) -- A suspected bomb has blown the front door off a Muslim elementary school in a southern Dutch town and shattered windows across the street, days after a suspected Muslim radical killed a Dutch filmmaker, police said.

Television news footage showed the burnt-out entrance of the school, which was empty at the time of the attack at around 3:30 a.m. Monday (0230GMT). There were no reports of injuries.

Police suspected it was related to the murder last week of Dutch filmmaker Theo van Gogh by a suspected Islamic radical, said spokesman Cees Dekkers in Eindhoven, about 120 kilometers (about 75 miles) south of the Dutch capital Amsterdam.

And from Stuff.co.nz, with thanks to Nicolei:

AMSTERDAM: Several Dutch mosques were attacked by arsonists this weekend as tension in the Netherlands grew after the murder of an outspoken filmmaker by a suspected Islamist extremist, the ANP news agency reported on Monday.

Mosques in the city of Rotterdam and the towns of Breda and Huizen were attacked, although not badly damaged, while pamphlets insulting to Islam were plastered on another mosque in Rotterdam, ANP said.

I find it interesting to see Holland's reaction to the murder of one man while Americans doing acts such as this after 9/11 would result in crucifixion. Then again we are the bad guys in this whole conflict as the liberals say.

Vigilante attacks like these are always wrong.

Check your premise.

Agreeing with their choice to attack an elementary school or not (I don't), I'm at least encouraged to see that Europeans still have the heart to defend their civilization against the onslaught.

Sad to say, looking at the Southwest right now, I'm not so sure Americans do.

Pay moslems back in the same coin 100 fold. Toleration should not be a one way street. Better yet, maybe they'll go home.

People in Holland are very tolerant and some of the nicest people you'll ever meet. Their country is being overtaken by the Muslim population and they are now realizing that something must be done. The Government there wants to appease and not offend, but the people want action and are now revolting.

I'm waiting for some newspaper come along and claim these people are the same kind of football hooligans that plague Saturday matches.

Muslims don't have special privilege to commit mayhem when they take offense. If the government won't uphold the law when Muslims break it, then vigilantes will emerge to fill the vacuum. Either we maintain civility, or we fight savagery with savagery. Count on it!

I have mixed feelings - I think the Dutch need to stop bending over to the Muslims start having sex and babies and resist Muslim hegemony. I don't however think that bombing an elementary school is the best idea.

In the next fifty years, "European" Europe will have to decide whether or not they are going to go into the good night quietly. Given the last 100 years, I would tend to think that they will not. For all of the protestations of how sophisticated and modern Europe is, they have demonstrated a breath-taking capacity for racial murder in the not-too-distant past. Stories like this make me think that we will be seeing something similar in the not-too-distant future.

Which is not to say that I endorse this. I suspect that, at the end of the day, it will be the US that steps in, at tremendous cost, to restore order and to re-settle the refugees. In a few years time, we will look back at the Europeans lecturing us about tolerance and respect for other cultures and laugh...

Considering the vigilante action and a growing movement to limit Islamic immigration, this will soon be a very bloody contest.

As I've been muttering here and there, it will be interesting to see how tolerant, all-accepting, passifist socialism survives with the advancement of Islamism. The two are incompatible. This may eventually push parts of Europe towrds the right a bit.

I would agree.

I can't agree about the U.S. For one thing, we'll already have our own similar problems with the Southwest, and by that time, opposition to receiving foreign refugees will be growing louder.

One thing for sure, "islam" is forcing people to align on one side or the other.

How strong is Christianity in the Netherlands, for example? This is a wake-up to Christians.

Most appalling to me about this story is that not only do they have mosques in little Holland (it's not a huge country), but a "muslim elementary school," meaning they're bringing up kids in that fake "religion." ?!!

When I was there in 1983, the lady who ran the hotel remarked that "The cathedrals are for the tourists."

Demographic trends are against the Europeans. They are not reproducing in sufficient numbers to maintain their economies (and they like the Welfare State).

If they are to maintain their Welfare State Benefits, then they will need to allow vast numbers of workers from North Africa, Turkey, and other parts of the Middle (or is it the Near?) East into Europe. Then they have to find some way to assimilate the immigrants. Europe's never been very good at assimilation.

Your scenario may be correct. Watching Europe is going to be interesting over the next fifty years as the Europeans attempt to square this circle.
