Her conservative colleague, William Safire, appeared on the program with her, and gently assured Miss Dowd that everything would be OK, and that someday the Democrats will return to power.

Not until they take Zell Miller's advice.

Saw the program yesterday. I've never seen someone so unhappy....and this is the deep kind of unhappiness... what a sad person she is.

MoDo needs some xanax.

Apparently, though, she seems upset that the adults remain in power.

"confusing church with state"

No, I'm afraid the Massachusetts Supreme Court has already done that.

I saw her speak in NYC a couple weeks ago, and everything out of her mouth sounded like it was from a complete airhead. Men only act out of testosterone, only women are suited for political power because they are so conciliatory, everyone acts on the national and global stage as if they were still in high school or kindergarten. Dowd is useful only as a reflection of her immature and parochial liberal-Manhattan-elite milieu, nothing more.

She has never been the same since Michael Douglas wined and dined her during the 1998 election and then dropped her like a hot rock afterwards.

I saw Dowd this weekend on a post election show hosted by Chris Matthews. She was on a panel with Karen Tumulty, Evan Thomas and some lady from BBC whose name escapes me. Dowd was clearly out of her element. The other panelists were serious people, and were making serious points (although Tumulty's and Thomas's points were often wrong), but Dowd was simply a lightweight.

...dividing the country along fault lines of fear, intolerance, ignorance and religious rule...

He didn't mean to divide the country that way.

It's just that the "skeerd, intolerant, ignorant atheists" wouldn't vote for him.

someday the Democrats will return to power.

And MoDo's bile and bitterness will lead the way.

Please keep it up, MoDo. It's an incredibly enlightened outlook on life that is destined to bring great success to the Party you trust so much.

The phrase "Mo, you ignorant slut!" comes to mind.

Several years ago, Dowd wrote a column claiming (actually whining) that men don't like powerful women, sort of as an a excuse as to why she is fifty-something and still single. Seeing her on Meet the Press, I know why she is single. She is nasty, stoopid, bigotted, a whiner, unhappy, and, generally, an all around b*tch, not a very powerful woman at all. That part shows that she is also delusional. As pretty she is, she is very unattractive.

She's never been the same since Michael Douglas decided to dump her for any other woman.

Limbaugh continued: "It's obvious Maureen Dowd hasn't gotten over her breakup with Michael Douglas who she thinks is a real American president but he didn't do anything but utter the words written for him by Aaron Sorkin and stand where someone director told him to stand and have his hair coifed by somebody who knew what to do, and then he blew it by running off with Catherine Zeta-Jones, leaving Maureen Dowd in the lurch. All she's got now is bourbon for mouthwash, and it's showing on her columns."
