Specter is extremely proud of his opposition to conservative Judge Robert Bork, and would stop another judge like him in a second.
From the Bucks County Courier-Times:
Specter said he does use his position on the Senate Judiciary Committee - a panel he will probably begin chairing next year if re-elected - to weed out judges who are extreme. He points to Robert Bork, a Ronald Reagan nominee for the U.S. Supreme Court.
"I not only voted against Bork, I led the charge against him," Specter said.

Two possibilities for avoiding a Spector Chair...
1) Remove him from the Judiciary Committee.
2) Repeal the term limit rule on Chairmanships.

Specter is from the same town in Kansas as Bob Dole, Specter had to go to PA to get a constituency. What does that tell us.

Specter can't be trusted. That's why your hero Dubya supported him in the Pubbie primary against a perfectly reasonable conservative candidate, isn't it? What are you gonna do now? Sigh!

I knew that Specter voted against impeachment of Clinton, and was against the confirmation of Bork, but I had no idea he was such an ass. To slap the President who helped him win his primary so soon after the President was re-elected was one thing, but this is too much. This guy has got to go.
Kyl is the man for the job!

Specter's going down. I'm glad Judge Bork has a chance to see it happening.

Why Not! He's 77 years old which is just a couple of years younger than Rehnquist. Bork would however make an excellent recess appointment if the need were to arise.

"I say Bush renominate's Bork as soon as there is an opening. Why Not!" I seem to recall that Judge Bork came out against the 2nd Amendment. Am I wrong?

People like Arlen Specter never die. Even when their breath expires, their ghosts continue to haunt decent people.

We are leading the charge against you, Spector!!
To: Theodore R.
I meant we need a strict constitutional SC judge who will be there for a long time.
