Why do Liberals like Water? Cuz water attracts rats?
Me

My wife and I were scrutinizing the county-breakdown electoral map. We noticed the higher proportion of blue counties as all being near water and rivers. I asked my wife, "Why are all the liberals drawn to water?" She responded, "I guess it's because water naturally attracts the RATS".......
Seriously though---at a general glance, both coastlines are blue, and the mississippi river banks are blue south to north! While it doesn't hold true for the whole country, I found it particularly funny how there is a swath of blue that perfectly follows the Mississippi River. Why are liberals drawn to water? Do they all windsurf like John Effin Kerry, or is my wife correct and they are just RATS?

How 'bout that...one could go from coast to coast without having to set foot in a blue county...Cool.

Cities are frequently built near water, and urban areas tend to be heavily Democratic.

Yeah---that's a good explanation if you want to think logically about it... but my wife is from Seattle (near Lake Washington), and noticed that there are lots of liberals and lots of rats... hence the connection...

I noticed the Mississippi river thing in the election of 2000 and then again in this one.
Strange indeed.

It's also a good map of where the greatest concentration of crime, pollution, depravity, corruption, and socialism is concentrated.

Its the fluorine in the drinking water. Or real wildlife took a vote and banished the Rats from the countryside to spend their days in a jungle of their own making.

It's not water, it's the industrialization surrounding port cities (New York, Boston, Philadelphia, Seattle, etc.), which promotes a unique combination of unionized labor, a wealthier/educated leisure class, and transient labor. All of these groups are prone to look to government--the hand of man, rather than the hand of God--for their welfare.

Liberals do not like to be contained. . .water offers, one less boundary;hence; they push the limits in seeking the extremes of our geography including; temperatures/landscapes. . .and they have only to look over their shoulder - from one direction.
Their politics are extreme; their personalities extreme as well; so where you gonna go?
North/south/east/westward. . .HO!

These Ba$tards follow the highest concentration of the areas population. In the south an Middle west it is mosquito driven. In the East and far west it is passed on by liberal cocktail parties

The cities of America grew around water as water was the major avenue for trade. The Mississippi is still a major trade avenue. The cities from Moline, St. Louis, to Memphis and New Orleans all went to the DemoRats. I also noticed that union dominated areas either went Rat or had a very close margin.
Another thing to consider - DemoRat machines are stronger in urban areas and that makes for easier and more prevalent voting fraud (like Chicago and St. Louis).

Water Attracts Rats
Easy there pardner...
Unless you're talking about us conservative surf rats.
Look at Orange County, (where I live) California...looks all red to me!
To: qwertyz
good analysis. 100% agreed. it is also easier to commit voter fraud with these elements in play.

Their politics are extreme; their personalities extreme as well; so where you gonna go? i say send them to the north pole. that way they won't confused about what direction they are going when they decide to move. the dems are headed south!

Shipping Unions?
That might explain part of the concentration around the water, but what about the blue patch down along the border with Mexico in Texas (my home state)?
I think these folks are looking still looking for that democrat handout that never comes. What they also don't realize is that the democrat party no longer represets their values (Catholic, for the most part).

I commented on this very fact here a couple of days ago. My suggestion was that it was something in the water. Hehe.

Can't speak for the rest of the Mississippi River states, but in Arkansas, the delta is heavily populated by the very poor, many of whom are black.
