Keelihor's program on NPR, Prairie Home Companion, is often clever and amusing. But, he has been a scumbag Kerry advocate for some time now. He, like so many of the ultra-left wingers believe that snide and clever glibness is all that is required to have leftie "feelings" wim.
He just read a piece he claimed was by Thomas Jefferson in which Jefferson indicates that the influence of witches will pass, suggesting I guess, that the control of Republican good guys will also pass. There also was some pointed comments about born again Christians and the negative influences of religion.
As I said, I find this program often clever and amusing with good music. I assume, in fact, that child molester Yarrow and Peter, Paul and Mary will be on frequently in the future. But, I don't like criticsm, especially, silly, factually inaccurate criticism when I'm paying for it.
Thanks for all that Jeffersonage. I would ask you what time it is but I already know how to build an atomic clock.
Keelihor reminds me of author Stephen King, both have that mental inbred look about them. (ick) Usually there is a correlation
You're opening a can of worms with that proposal, but I still like it!
Keelihor's program on NPR," - No, he is always smug and boring.
He has that Rather look, no? I've seen that look before when visiting a relative in the psychiatric ward. I'm not trying to be mean, I really do see that same look on many liberal faces. Is it maybe the "look what you're doing to us" look, the "how dare you" look, or is it actually some sort of mental thing? Maybe I'm losing it.
Imposter!
Everybody knows 'Arry Champion was 'Enery the Eighth.
Garrison Keillor has no right to call anyone names. No wonder he does talk radio, catch one look at that face and you will want to have a witch burning. (said with much jest)
He was reading excerpts from a Civil War autobiography -"Company Aytch" by Sam Watkins from Tenn.
The passages described some close calls Sam experienced during one of the major battles in the Western theater, Chickamauga maybe.
I had just finished reading the book and didn't remember those passages, so I reread the book. Nothing. Makin' stuff up, just like Rather and CBS. What a hump.
Supposedly a thread that was written by Elizabeth Edwards. (Have no idea if it's the real Elizabeth Edwards.) Here's a bit of it, with the quote from Jefferson at the bottom
"Since I cannot start a thread (which I think is a good rule by the way), I have to hijack one -- at least briefly. I do want this thread to continue on, though, because the topic is so important. (Moderators can feel free to move this, of course.)
But I also had something I wanted to say to all of you. You know that I read DU and have for quite some time, long before any of you knew my name. I really appreciate the support you have given me on this latest hurdle and before. It means a lot to me and to John.
Now that I have more time, I will post some, too. But today I want to share something inspiring, part of a letter from Thomas Jefferson. This is from the new Bernstein biography of Jefferson. Jefferson sent the letter in 1798 after the passage of the Sedition Act:
"A little patience, and we shall see the reign of witches pass over, their spells dissolve, and the people, recovering their true sight, restore their government to its true principles. It is true that in the meantime we are suffering deeply in spirit, and incurring the horrors of a war and long oppressions of enormous public debt. If the game runs sometimes against us at home we must have patience till luck turns, and then we shall have an opportunity of winning back the principles we have lost, for this is a game where principles are at stake."
I like to listen to Keillor too, find him most amusing.
He sure did! I don't even like or trust O'Reilly anymore, but I've never seen a weaker, more unprepared liberal get skewered than Keillor that time. He was so uninformed and clueless, and had no real defense or arguments of any kind. I wish they (liberal leftists) would all roll over and play dead as easily as he (Keillor) did in that interview. Even more, I wish W would become the New and Improved President Bush and PULL THE FRIGGIN' PLUG ON NPR AND PBS!!!!!!!!!!! End the subsidizing of that leftist propaganda garbage once and for all!!!!!
Only in a very narrow technical sense. We fund CPB, which funds NPR/PBS. That is a distinction without a difference.
Each to his own.
You've got to remember that Garrison Keillor is a male version of Judy Woodruf. He's not without his pleasant qualities--but he's a raving lunatic Radical Leftist and doesn't even have sense enough to try to hide it.
Agreed and you're the only one who's spelled his name right, so far.

Meanwhile, little kids can be banned from school for denigrating witches: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1252375/posts
Hey, since Keillor is a big liberal, maybe he meant it as a compliment?
I grew up listening to him. I used to love his show.
He really went off the deep end after the Paul Wellstone funeral and I could not listen to him after that.
BTW, welcome to FR.
