Garrison Keelihor On NPR, Just Likened Us To Witches! Why Do We Fund NPR?

Keelihor's program on NPR, Prairie Home Companion, is often clever and amusing. But, he has been a scumbag Kerry advocate for some time now. He, like so many of the ultra-left wingers believe that snide and clever glibness is all that is required to have leftie "feelings" wim.

He just read a piece he claimed was by Thomas Jefferson in which Jefferson indicates that the influence of witches will pass, suggesting I guess, that the control of Republican good guys will also pass. There also was some pointed comments about born again Christians and the negative influences of religion.

As I said, I find this program often clever and amusing with good music. I assume, in fact, that child molester Yarrow and Peter, Paul and Mary will be on frequently in the future. But, I don't like criticsm, especially, silly, factually inaccurate criticism when I'm paying for it.

'Anyway..after the opening theme, Garrison says "The elections over, but it's okay..we're over it, I'm over it (audience tittering). I'm now devoting my time and energy to a new organization...one that supports a Constitutional amendment to keep born-again Christians from voting."

I was watching Fox last night, not listening to Garrison. However, I just heard what ticked you off on Prairie Home Companion's Sunday rerun.

I don't blame you for being angry. I am too, and I've never thought the joke shows were very funny. I seem to be turning off NPR as soon as I turn it on nowadays. Today on On the Media, they said that now, after Bush's re-election, the first admendment is in trouble. What? Because they don't have a monopoly on media opinion any more? Have they heard about speech codes on university campuses?

I just wrote NPR an e-mail telling them to open their minds, because we are sick of such whining bitterness. Like that's going to make a difference on NPR. But it makes me feel better. We do have to cut their funding and see if they can get by with donations from liberals. Our family used to give them money until 1991 and the Clarence Thomas controversy.

The thing is, it is good to listen to the opposing side, such as the number of conservatives who listen to NPR and the liberals who listen to Rush. Then we can make more cogent arguments. But I often get the feeling that fewer liberals even think about listening to conservative viewpoints; they are too threatened.

I wonder what the income level is of the average NPR listener.

Perhaps they can afford to support the station by their contributions.

I have manager at NPR that will get back to me (Ha Ha) Monday on why NPR had to drop the John Ridley "Swing Voter" series.

I agree. If radio or TV is to be "public" then it should not be INSANELY onesided politically. Pull the plug, Bush!! How long do you think Limbaugh and Hannity would last on NPR before the libs would storm Washington? Why do we always have to bend over backward??

The libs all have the same talking points. Elizabeth Edwards, Garrison Keillor, and Barbra Streisand are using the same self-serving Thomas Jefferson quote.

Fiddlstix: The existence of PBS and NPR and NEA keep more vicious liberal radio organs unprofitable. (See, Airhead America Radio).

Vicious liberal radio organs keep vicious liberal radio organs unprofitable without the aid of PBS, NPR, and NEA because they are vicious and liberal.

De fund PBS, NPR, and NEA today and be done with them. At least let them find their support in someone else's pocket. I'm tired of being robbed to pay for this trash. I speak here of the liberal slant not the music.

Unlike most of the other posters here I actually liked "A Prairie Home Companion" for years. However, I have to agree that it was getting a bit nastier in the snide comments of late. I also agree that Keillor was never actually funny, but was (in some cases) quite witty.

Here is my note sent to Garrison Keillor.

Dear Garrison, I don't guess you'll miss me much. I'm just one little listener out of the thousands who listen to "A Prairie Home Companion." Just one born again Christian who was hurt by your tasteless and spiteful remarks after your candidate was trounced by mine in the recent election. I WILL miss "A Prairie Home Companion." I have really enjoyed it for years, but I can live without it. Have a good life, but don't forget to prepare for eternity.
