Vanity post; no thread.

NOTE: We also need to look at governor's races.

Steele is an excellent idea. I don't see why Sarbanes is popular. To my mind, he hasn't done anything. "Ghost" indeed.

Regardless of opposition, I'd like to see Robert Byrd's opponent start out of the gate with the slogan: "let's name a bridge after someone else for once"

I tend to think everyone on your list is beatable. Hear me out......would you have thought 2 years ago that Minority Leader Tom Daschle could have been beat....honestly.

We need to have a major GOP operation to GOTV and remove these clowns. Remember, 2006 is not a presidential election year, so if we can build an effective campaign against them, get out the GOP vote, and keep the dem vote complacent, then there may be a few surprises.

Here's who we should focus on:

Clinton, Feinstein, Byrd, Nelson, Sarbanes. Forget Ted - too hard.

Is Frist going to run for President then?

Ugg, I hope not. The guy is stiffer than Algore.

Is there a credible Republican in West Virginia who could capture Byrd's seat if he were to retire. If we could get a solid candidate (and that's an enormous IF), then the Republicans might win an open seat. What to make of Representative Shelley Moore Capito? Thanks to the enormous popularity of George W. Bush in this overwhelmingly rural Democrat bastion, Republicans can take over West Virginia.

Your dreaming if you think Lugar is in for a tight race in Indiana. I'd put him in the safe seat category.

I've heard that Frist plans to retire, and a lot of those guys are getting old.

Like Hatch, Byrd, Feinstein, Kennedy.

Kennedy is overdue for a heart-attack. I don't mean to sound like I wish him to have a heart-attack, but look at him! How he's able to function at all is beyond me.

Arnie is better suited for governor than senate. An executive role rather than legislative.

Giuliani vs Clinton.

Someone should persuade Michelle Malkin to run for Senate somewhere. The Republican party is long overdue for its young "rising star" and she's intelligent, beautiful, and has spunk. Any other ideas?

FYI..in today's NY Times.. ( I refuse to post from or link to the Slimes)..the Metro section..there's a big article about how the three NY area Dem senators..Dodd. Corzine, and Schumer, may quit to run for governor of their states, because the prospects of years in the minority don't appeal to them....I thinkt he Dem senate scenario could change greatly..Off your list.. Lieberman may also retire..he hates his caucus...especially if Bush names him ambassador to Israel..

if the ND Dems can find a decent candidate..Conrad could get "Daschled"..he'll be under huge pressure on the judicial nominations..

Nelson in Fl will retire..He faces a tough race, even if he wins..for what..another 6 years in the minority?

If Corzine quits to ruin for govenor in NJ..GOP has a good chance for the seat..Christie Whitman..

Stabenow is weak....does the GOP have a candidate..

Giuliani probably would beat Clinton if he decides to run.

As for Malkin, how about Montana? Conrad Burns barely survived on Bush's coattails in 2000. The Republican Party in that state is in disarray despite Bush trouncing Kerry there. Unless Burns has become enormously more popular than he was four years ago, he should retire. Then again, what's wrong with a Senator Rancicot? That'll free up Malkin to contest, say, New Jersey--or West Virginia (if Byrd retires).

I don't think Burns will seek a 3rd term. As it is now, Montana and Nevada are the races to watch for Dem Pickups while Florida and Perhaps Nebraska for the GOP, depending on how the two Senators behave in the next few years. Of course, we could see some retirements, so stay tuned.

Stone-cold RINO.

The winning equation:

Jay Wolf + funding = No more Robert KKK Byrd.

I think he has higher aspirations. And rumor has it that he might replace Ashcroft as Attorney General--or at least his name might be under consideration.

There's no viable Republican candidate...

You mean there isn't one GOP congressman from Tennessee who could be a credible Senator?

How can that be?
