The article didn't go into much detail about NZ immigration laws; I was wondering, just how easy is it for a Yank to emigrate to NZ? I wouldn't think they'd be given any sort of refugee status that would move them to the front of line... What are the labor laws like? How easy is it for a foreigner to find work? Unless these spoiled whiners have sought after skills, I don't think they'd much like taking the typical immigrant route of starting at the very bottom. I suspect 99.9% of these crybabies will just stay home and continue piss and moan...
It is tough:
1) You need to get an English language test called IELTS and pass with scores ike 6.5 out of 9. This is equivalent to getting B+ in high school final year's English or first year university/college writing class.
2) There is no help from government in finding work. And if you speak with too thick American accent (rolling r's) Kiwis won't welcome you to work.
3) They are planning to require you to live here for at least 5 years before citizenship is granted.
And worst of all, they will discover once they get here, that the Pat Buchanan paleoconservative movement is much stronger than back "home". Our paleocon (Winston Peters) reoutinely gets 5% support and once they come here in droves I guarantee they will shore up Winston's support to 18% (it happened before).
Before long they will be horrified to see the paleocon becomes the kingmaker in the next pariamentary session. (courtesy of Westminster system of government and proportional representation in election)
