YAMOUSSOUKRO (Reuters) - Loud explosions and gunfire rocked Ivory Coast's capital Yamoussoukro on Saturday and flames could be seen rising from the presidential palace grounds where government helicopter gunships are based, witnesses said. "We are being attacked by the French," said an Ivorian solider by phone from inside the palace grounds.
Another army source in the base said the flames were coming from Mi-24 helicopter gunships. He said three were based there but did not say how many were ablaze.
I wonder when teh French will surrender?
Did Chirac get UN approval for this unprovoked, vicious attack on a sovereign nation? Hmmm?
Did they get a UN permission slip for this action?
Now there's a phrase that hasn't been uttered in years.
The French --- Centre of the Axis of Evil --- did NOT get permission. N'est pas?
Anybody have more details? Superficially, the French seem to be backing the Muslim rebels against the Christian central government.
It can't last long, they're so out of practice at attacking with anything other than words. Now, SURRENDERING- that's their strong suit!

Now the Ivory Coast will have to buy new airplanes and helicopters from France.
