Any ideas or suspicions?

Good eye. Got to be a big mistake somewhere.

You are the one whining and calling names. I am only pointing out the political purpose of your thread.

I think I got it. They transposed some digits. The population of Kerry country should be 136.0 million. That brings total U.S. population to 286.9 million - which is right.

I voted for Bush, Petronski. Bush and Boxer. I'm a big winner for this election...and you ought to see a shrink about your paranoid suspicions.

Out of curiosity, what was it that what made you vote for Bush (or not vote for Kerry)?

Those in "Bush counties" don't vote for Bush as much as those in "Kerry counties" vote for Kerry. This makes sense to me. Kerry counties tend to be urban and have a high concentration of democrats and fewer Republicans. Some who might otherwise vote for Bush would say why bother - my vote doesn't count (I know, I know a very wrong attitude). Now Bush counties tend to be more rural and there is more of an even mix of Bush and Kerry supporters with Bush supporters holding the majority.

If the dims want to change the EC let's do it by giving each county one vote regardless of population. Lots of red counties on this map.

What I like about this site is you can put in your address under "block party" and see how much your neighbors gave to either side:-)

Thanks for the additional resources. I'll wait until the office libs's blood pressure drops a little, then ramp it up.

What a great weekend!

I agree that "Where did their votes come from?" is the best. Tell me if you can find a better version.

Note that L.A. (unfortunately my fair county) literally towers over the rest of the country BY FAR on the Kerry map. Chicago is next. I firmly believe that Manhattan is not up there in the stratosphere because its tower literally and sadly was KNOCKED into reality on 9/11.

Here is my unbiased map that does not seek to conceal the data, but to reveal the lack of intensity of support for Kerry (Bush won at least 40% of the vote in 47 states):

Oh that's a long hard one.

I thought about all the things that were important to me.
I thought about what could go wrong and what could go right.
I thought about what realistically could be achieved by my vote...if I got my way.

If Bush is who I hope he is, he's the best man to deal with the Islamic world...and to safeguard Israel. If he isn't then he'll take the blame for the mess which follows.
Kerry at his best was incoherent. At worst Neville Chamberlain.

I don't mind if Roe v Wade is overturned. I think it should be modified. I don't like the idea of gay marriage. If Bush fails I think a conservative court will be a good thing to check populist excesses. If Bush succeeds there's some risk of right-wing excess on the part of the Court but I'm not too worried about it.

I don't like Bush's economics but Kerry's were incoherent. So, once again, if Bush succeeds he gets the credit. If he fails he takes the blame.

I most fault Bush on his birth control and environmental policies. But I think on the former he'll only be able to restrict abortion and on the latter the best I could do was vote for Boxer. She, Arnold, and Feinstein are my best hope for preventing drilling off the California Coast.

I've referred to you as a liberal, just like your name says. You've referred to me as unthinking and a paranoid and a boob.

Typical liberal namecalling.

There's a stretch of Alaska (along the Pacific coast west of Canada) that's colored yellow.

Yeah, that was bugging me last night after posting. It never felt right, so I went and dug up some other maps and fixed it.
