Which Dem Senators should we target for defeat in 2006? (Vanity)

Ok, we've got two years. We know we need to pick up at least 6 seats. Assuming that we won't have a 100% success rate, we should probably choose at least 8-10 Democrat (or independent) seats to work on.

We have seen that we can make a difference in the outcome of elections. Let's put ourselves to work and help get W a fillabuster proof Senate.

Remember, Democrats will lie to you. Some of them will even lie and call themselves Republicans.

Hillary is the most important -- she is the most dangerous to our Country. I think she can be beaten in 2006.

Will she run in '06? I say she doesn't so she can concentrate on '08.

To give Sen Dayton the ridicule he so richly deserves, let him be known from this point on as "Evacuatin' Dayton". What a doofus!

How about Arlen Specter?

He just got reelected last week. Youve got to wait another six years for him. Maybe he will retire then or maybe Bush can nominate him for ambassador to Scotland.

Chafee is fair game in the 2006 primary....

I read that Chafee is making noises about leaving the Repub. party. Good riddance as far as I'm concerned; he voted like a Democrat more than a Repub. anyway. Don't know if he's gonna go to the Dems. or do the Indy thing that Jim Jeffords did.

Not only do we have to target those up for re-election, but we have to have some great people in place to run against them!

I doubt that we will target the obvious ones in the Midwest and Plains states. Bush will probably talk to each of them and promise not to raise money for or campaign for a Republican opponent in their states to get their votes to end fillibusters on court appointments and other issues or import to Bush.

if Hillary didn't read the tea leaves correctly, she will proceed with her quest for the White House .. will she also run simultaneously for the NY Senate? This is a seat that Pataki could probably pick up (assuming Rudy takes a cabinet position and also tries for the WH .. if not, he could get the seat). Interestingly, TWO from NYS would be running for POTUS, but that's for another thread another time.

I'm going to assume Bobby Sheets Byrds will announce his retirement; WV should be an easy pick up.

Dayton has shown himself a total fool and the GOP in MN is starting to emerge from long darkness in the land of DFL.

Not too sure Nelson in FL is as vulnerable as it appears, unless Jeb wants a go at the Senate, which I doubt.

Even in California where most of the geography is Red, hard work in Sacramento can further isolate the socialists and confine them to shrinking areas in San Francisco, Berzerkley and Hollywood

West of the San Andreas Fault would be the best location to give God and Nature's god first option.

Hillary CAN NOT be beaten in New York unless Rudy G. goes against her. Even then it would be close. the media, all the press, the libs would get out more dead people, homeless, crack addicts and felons to vote than Rudy could.

Besides, Senators from liberal states rarely get to be president... Hillary will NEVER get elected. We should all pray that she runs for president in order to put the last shovel of dirt on the Liberal Democrats and stomp it down. Every single "close" race that the Clintons have campaigned for has lost.

She is the "perfect" candidate for the Dems and the "perfect" candidate for the Republicans.

I think that Michigan, Nebraska, and maybe Wisconsin, but forget the other Blue states and Rino states... they will waste resources and money from the ones we can nail.

"BABS BOXER"

Unfortunately, Boxer and Feinswine are safe in the People's Republic of California. Those seats will remain Socialist until they bury me and far beyond. Better to choose someone more vulnerable.

Hillary CAN NOT be beaten in New York...

I disagree. He approval numbers in NY are very, very low and she may decide to avoid a loss in 2006 by resigning her seat.

Either way, we need to run a strong candidate to take back one seat in NY for all those upstate that are not so liberal. If we take it from Hillary, she is finished for 2008.

There will probably be the following aging Democratic Senators retiring:

Daniel Akaka (Hawaii)
Paul Sarbanes (Maryland)
Ted Kennedy (Massachusetts)
Robert Byrd (West Virginia)

Open seats are usually the priority, but all of these states usually elect Democrats. Dianne Feinstein California is another possible retiree.

The following Democratic Senators are vulnerable:

Mark Dayton (Minnesota)
Ben Nelson (Nebraska)
Maria Cantwell (Washington)

The following Democratic Senators are favored but potentially beatable to one degree or another:

Tom Carper (Delaware)
Bill Nelson (Florida)
Hitlery Rodham Clinton (New York)
Jim Jeffords (Vermont)-nominal independent, de facto 'Rat.
Herbert Kohl (Wisconsin)

I essentially agree with your analysis with the following caveats.

Santorum is very vulnerable in PA with Rendell also up for re-election... perhaps our most endangered Republican. This seat must be saved.

Top RATS to target: Dayton, Stabenow, Nelson of FL, and I would move Cantwell up, as well.

Destroy Jim Jeffords for his treachery.

We may have a freshman D in NJ if Corzine runs for governor in 2005 -- essentially an open seat.

Give PIAPS a good run, regardless. The point is not to defeat her (though that would be fine) but to bruise her up politically heading into 2008... and make her consume a lot of time and $$$ fighting for re-election. It also keeps her off the campaign trail helping other RATS raise $$$.

If we want to make a BIG statement we need to target somebody that symbolizes the party: Kennedy, Kerry, Biden, etc.

It is still too early to think about 2006. At a glance I don't see a lot of openings for us. We will probably be spending more time defending possible open Senate seats with the possible retirements of Bill Frist, Conrad Burns, and Trent Lott. Plus Jim Talent and Rick Santorum are somewhat vulnerable. The only 2 RAT Senators ripe for target practice are Bill Nelson and Mark Dayton. If Washington will re-elect a pro-terrorist lover like Patti Murray, then they will re-elect Maria Cantwell. Thus I don't see a lot of gain for 2006. Perhaps out best outcome would be to break even.
