Ok, we've got two years. We know we need to pick up at least 6 seats. Assuming that we won't have a 100% success rate, we should probably choose at least 8-10 Democrat (or independent) seats to work on.
We have seen that we can make a difference in the outcome of elections. Let's put ourselves to work and help get W a fillabuster proof Senate.

That's because you have sense and don't see the world through the eyes of a liberal. They're not too rational. I'm reminded of a conversation I overheard after Bush #41 beat Michael Dukakis. I can't believe Bush won! I don't know anybody who voted for Bush!!! They see only their own worldview. Everybody who doesn't believe as they believe is an extremeist, on the face of it.
Helping Franken win the dems nomination should be all that is required to ensuring a Republican gets elected. I think I'd give him money for his primary race. Let's not forget that the dems have been moving dramatically left since 1992 and it has only helped the GOP at every level of political office throughout the U.S. ever since!
I am also very much in favor of Howard Dean being the new DNC Chairman, Keeping Pelosi as the HR Minority Leader and getting Hitlery or Teddy K as Senate Minority Leader. :)

What if Kerry had won and Edwards "retired" shortly thereafter because of his wife, and then Kerry appointed HILLARY as VP? That would go over like a lead balloon.
Rice is still young enough to run as a VP in 2008, and just might. I don't see the hurry.

Actually, my dream ticket in 2008 would be Jeb Bush and Condi Rice. But I don't think that's going to fly. At least not according to the Book of Jeb.

I believe she meant to say "We should reach out to (slap) the democrats (often)".
You have a valid point. As much as we might want to purge our ranks of RINO's we still have some leverage over them and they usually vote more in line with our view's than the Teddy's, Hillary's and Daschle's of the DNC.
We should prioritize the targets by vunerability and whether we can orchestrate any leverage on those in dems in strong Bush states. Which it seems what most of the thought out posts I've read are stating. I would not waste money defending RINO seats though. I would spend it on taking down our prime targets.
Even in a worse case scenario we should lose no more than 3 seats and should pick up at least two (net minus 1). Though I think if we plan it right and run the Marriage Amendemnt in several key states and target weak dems in Bush or Weak Blue states, then we could pick up 3 to 6 depending on where the economy is at in 2006.
An Early prediction says we pick up at least 2 seats in the Senate, with a potential of 4 or 5 max.

O.k., we've discussed quite a few names. Remembering that the goal is to flip seats from Dem to us, and NOT to get rid of a perticularly irritating Senator, let's pick the top 10 and explore their vulnerabilities.
I choose E, of course, but I'm hoping that we could give a few of them some extra special attention. Obviously, we can't get them all, and some are so safe as to not warrant as much attention as others. We should be able to target those who are weak for one reason or the other, though.
Hoover was from the smoky back room days and was running when any Republican with a pulse could have won. And while he may have been a capable manager (the Depression certainly wasn't his fault, and his proposed policies for dealing with it were good ones), he was no politician, and was incapable of politically handling the fall-out from the Great Depression. Then, things were handed to FDR, who destroyed our balanced government, created the concept of the activist Supreme Court, and created the welfare state Leviathan we live with today.

If Rice wants a political future, she should serve out her cabinet time, run for elective office in her home state (where is that?), and then see what happens.
