Bush Wins Iowa to Claim Last Three States

DES MOINES, Iowa - President Bush (news - web sites) won Iowa on Friday, claiming the last three states of the 2004 presidential election.

Although Democratic Sen. John Kerry (news - web sites) had already conceded the race for the White House on Wednesday, the counting of absentee ballots continued in Iowa, which had been too close to call.

By Friday, Bush had 745,980 votes and Kerry had 732,764 with the number of outstanding ballots too few to change the outcome.

Long after the polls closed on Tuesday, Bush won Ohio, which gave him the 270 electoral votes necessary for a second term, and New Mexico.

With Iowa decided, Bush had 286 electoral votes and Kerry 252.

In 2000, Democrat Al Gore (news - web sites) won Iowa and New Mexico, which went for Bush this year. The only Democratic switch was New Hampshire, which went for Bush in 2000.

Iowa will not certify the results until Nov. 29.

Kerry began campaigning in Iowa nearly three years ago. His surprising win in the Jan. 19 caucuses over a slate of eight other candidates gave him the momentum to claim the Democratic nomination.

FOX's website has called Iowa for Bush also !!!!

Which part? They do carry the AP story, but their "You Decide 2004" front page still shows Iowa uncalled, as well as their Iowa results page.

Worse, CNN still refuses to call either Iowa or New Mexico

I also agree. Where can we get updates on the number of provisionals in Wisconsin and New Hampshire? Where can we get the count of military absentee ballots that need to be counted in these states?

And several hours after they carried the AP story. The leaves the Communist No News station to call Iowa and New Mexico.

Plus the fact is that Richardson wants to run in 08.. So don't expect Richardson to help Kerry.

Wish I could help you about the number of overseas absentee ballots in Wisconsin, but the presstitutes are clammed up. Any provisionals (because of same-day on-site registration, they were to go only to those who registered by mail, were voting for the first time and could not produce any ID or anyone to vouch for them) would have been counted at the end of the day Wednesday (those casting them had until 4 pm Wednesday to produce the ID).

I'll make the same argument I did about Iowa the last 2 days. All absentee ballots that were back by 11/2 (other than overseas ballots, no late arrivals are accepted) were counted on 11/2. If Bush carried the overseas absentee vote by 70%-30% (IIRC, that's the projection), for Bush to make up the difference, there would need to still be nearly 30,000 overseas absentee ballots out. It's theoretically possible (I'll also note the 'RATs delayed the mailing of ballots with their attempt to keep Nader off the ballot), but highly unlikely.

I second your question. Neither Wisconsin's nor New Hampshire's Secretary of State's offices have anything useful on the web, like how many provisionals were cast, how many overseas absentee ballots were sent but not yet returned, or not yet counted.

Drudge called this about 20 minutes after Fox News called Ohio for Bush. Would that be about 3:00am est Nov 3rd?

I was so hoping for MI. If you don't mind me asking where are you in MI? I am in Oakland County. Looks like we got pretty close. Did you read the story about the poll watcher who was working downtown. He said the fraud was blatant. sigh.

That's not true. I've been keeping a list of vote changes...and the votes have changed. Not that much but there's been changes in Iowa. I've got the different numbers, if you'd like me to list them?

I'm in Houghton County - far western U.P. This county went easily for the president, as did most of the U.P.
Yup, I read with disgust about the Cobo vote fraud.

Did you notice how New Mexico suffered an early winter snowstorm that blanketed the Navajo Indian Reservation on Election Day?

I think this was God's way of supressing the (very rural) Navajo Indian votes for Kerry that NM Gov. Bill Richardson had "arranged" in advance and had quoted over and over DEFINITELY happen.
