Students Won't Leave Until GOP Answers
Friday, November 05, 2004

BOULDER, Colo. — About 85 students remained holed up inside the library at Boulder High School (search) early Friday, saying they're concerned about the direction the country is headed and refusing to leave until they've met with leaders from the Republican Party.

Some of the students involved in the protest, organized after President Bush (search) won re-election to a second term on Tuesday, placed calls to Republican politicians and left messages.

"We want them to reassure us that our fears are misguided and that the government is doing everything in its power to prevent our futures from being destroyed," said senior Brian Martens.

Boulder High teacher James Vacca expressed pride in the students for staging the protest.

"In an age where narcissistic college students riot in an inarticulate drunken stupor, you have students here at Boulder High School, principled, thoughtful and yet scared of four more years of pre-emptive war, the Patriot Act (search) and an increase in militarism at school through the No Child Left Behind Act," he said.

Hope they packed a lunch.

"In an age where narcissistic college students"

There is nothing more narcissistic than a bunch of moronic high school students gathering in a library in some sort of protest against election results they didn't like.

These students are the epitome of narcissism.

Then they'd best cut the crap with the protest and go to class.

Have heard the Boulder is the hotbed of liberalism -- guess this shows that to be a fact. Stupid teacher and students -- all they want are publicity -- spoiled and selfish comes to mind.

These punks need to be dragged outside , beat up and thrown into bootcamp. That should fix their frailness.

Republican doesnt have to address these kids without a clue.

If they want to be assured, they can look at the last 4 yrs. Have they been drafted, imprisoned or breathed air heavily polluted? All no...so shut the hell up and learn something.

Send in the police and inform them they aren't SUPERIOR to laws and if they want to know what Bush will do, refer them to his website.

Honestly, if they think Bush has nothing to do but coddle self indulged liberals they are terminally stupid. Thei behavior is nothing to be proud of. It's something to be ashamed of.

Send them health food to eat.

Have a nice stay. I hope the schools are charging them for security over the weekend.

The other kids in the school are going to make them wish they were expelled when this is all over.

"We want them to reassure us that our fears are misguided ..."

Coddling needed is aisle 5. NCLB increasing militarism? What, are the teachers screaming "how much is 2+2? WRONG, drop and give my 40" or something?

No one is safe in Boulder, Colorado. We have little islands of insanity in the Red States. Boulder is one. Austin, Texas, is another.

As soon as someone tells these kids that they'll miss the season premiere of The O.C., they'll be out of that library lickety-split.
