It is probably no surprise that the New York Times is less than pleased with the results of the 2004 election.
The newspaper, and its sister the Boston Globe, both publicly endorsed John Kerry.
But what was more unusual was the way the newspaper conducted itself on Election Day and on Nov. 3.
During Election Day, the Times, as well as many other news organizations, conducted exit polling. Those polls query voters as to their choices when they leave polling stations.
As is well known today, the ad-hoc exit polls turned out to be wrong.
What is not as well known is that some news organizations began releasing "results" of those polls while voting was under way in most sections of the nation.
A veteran New York Times U.N. correspondent of 30 years conveniently "informed" several news organizations with offices at U.N. headquarters that Times polling showed Kerry would win the 2004 election.
He repeated the Times "prediction" several times throughout Election Day, though official paper policy was not to disclose such results till after polls closed.
The correspondent was silent on Nov. 3, and is now "gone" for a few days.
To add to the questions of the Times' election coverage ...
When John Kerry conceded the election late Wednesday morning, the Times ignored the story.
Other New York newspapers ran special editions. The Times let its edition from 6 a.m. local time remain as its final edition for the day.
That edition had the headline "Bush Holds Lead - Kerry Refuses to Concede Tight Race."
Times readers were forced to wait almost 19 hours to be informed that John Kerry had conceded.
This from the newspaper that prides itself as the "newspaper of record."
Here's a few more accidental errors on the front page of the NYT before the election that were later 'Corrected' to make up for the error. You know where the corrections wind up.
"Because of an editing error, a front-page article yesterday about the final Sunday of campaigning before the presidential election misstated the party affiliation of people who said that President Bush's job approval rating, and the number of Americans who believe the nation was heading in the right direction, were dangerously low for an incumbent. They were Democrats. (Go to Article)
An article yesterday describing the results of the most recent New York Times/CBS News poll reversed the results for one question. Fifty percent of poll respondents said George W. Bush legitimately won the 2000 election, and 45 percent said he did not. (Go to Article)
An article yesterday about political messages in sermons referred incorrectly in some copies to John Kerry's position on same-sex marriage, an issue important to Roman Catholics. Mr. Kerry does not support it, but supports the right to civil unions for same-sex couples. (Go to Article)"
Apparently alls fair to the NYT.
yeah, like leaking to the demoscum where the exit poles were being conducted and sending in hundreds of human waste cheats to walk in then right back out and say, why yes i have time to do an extensive exit poll.
get real dude.
Yesterday's NYT ran an article that admitted that Mary Beth Cahill sent out emails to the Friends of Kerry in the media to ask that they not call Ohio because Kerry could still win (even though the statistics indicated a Bush win). The NYT also said that Edwards was the one who wanted to call in the lawyers (surprise!).
The Supernaut is explaining to us about the "exit poles".
I can't wait until they report their very own criminal indictment for inflating their circulation numbers: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1270635/posts Hehehehehe.......
I hope that we get to see the name of this veteran liar for the Slimes, who pretends to be a journalist.
This whole mess of phoney exit polls and Baghdad Zog's last phoney poll he released the night before the election smells of an incredible fraud attempt by the MSM to defeat our president.
It is time for the SEC and the worthless NY AG to put some publishers, editors, and owners of the NY Slimes in jail for two lies:
#1. Lying about their subscription #'s to get higher ad dollars.
#2. The fraud of pretending to be a legitimate newspaper. The NY Slimes is the leading PR arm of the Socialist/Facist Rat Party.
Whores at least provide product and service.
The NY Slimes is a criminal organization that uses Fraud to jack up its subscription #'s to get higher prices for its ads.
Last but not least, the NY Slimes is not a newspaper. This is the biggest fraud of all. It is nothing but a vile PR arm of the socialist/fascist Rat party.
We have a brand new brown shirt digital troll trying excuse the MSM media and the NY Slimes for what they did on Election Day.
Lets give this brown shirted digital troll a great big FR welcome.
"I don't think we have to make this out as a liberal conspiracy this time around. We all know polls can be wrong, and they are often used to allow news organizations to call states earlier than pure waiting for the 'official' count. These early exit poles allowed many of the red states to be caller earlier in the evening, slidifying Bush'd electoral lead early on.
Some states in particular did have exit poles showing a higher percentage for Kerry than actual results, but there could be a number of explainations for that"
Time for some fun Zotting this troll for the MSM.
I think exit polling should be illegal. It only serves to influence those who have not voted yet. Surely everyone can wait till all the ballots have been cast.
But you left out DISEASE!!!
That's alright, Thursday mornings Pittsburgh Post-Gazette (leftist rag) didn't even have BUSH WINS as part of its headline on Thursday after Kerry Conceded... its headline was simply "BUSH CALLS FOR UNITY"... and they aren't biased....
Yea right... I don't recall Bubba's electoral wins having the headline of "CLINTON CALLS FOR UNITY"....
I don't mind a media source being biased, but dammit just be open and admit it! Instead of carrying the damn line that you are "one of america's great newspapers" when in fact you are just and old socialist hack publication.
The average whore on the streets of NYC probably has less diseases than the Pro Kerry Fudgepackers, who write for the NY Slimes and control what appears in each copy.
Agreed. There's enough information there --"a veteran New York Times U.N. correspondent of 30 years"-- that somebody in-the-know should be able to out this creep.
Looking at his "In Forum" page, I'm not sure he's a Troll. But I do disagree with that post, certainly.
"KERRY WINS!!!, DECIDES TO LET BUSH LIVE IN WHITE HOUSE FOUR MORE YEARS OUT OF COMPASSION".
