WASHINGTON (AP) - Contending Americans have embraced his conservative agenda, President Bush pledged Thursday to aggressively pursue major changes in Social Security, the tax code and medical malpractice awards, working with Democrats if they are receptive and leaving them behind if they're not.

"I earned capital in the campaign, political capital, and now I intend to spend it," Bush said a day after a decisive victory that made him the first president in 68 years to win re-election and gain seats in both the House and Senate.

"I'll reach out to everyone who shares our goals," said Bush, who 24 hours earlier had promised to try to win over those who voted for his Democratic opponent.

PING

I think NOW is the time to convince Bush and Congress to scrap the income tax alltogether and go with a sales tax, a fairtax instead.

OH NO. Not this same old crap. WE STAY involved. We let the agenda slip away from us after 2002. Not this time. This time we use the new media to drive the agenda.

We waste a lot of money just complying with the tax code. Think of all the CPAs, IRS employees, and tax lawyers that we have just to comply with our complex and inefficient tax code. If we had an efficient tax code (low expense to comply with), we could take the savings and probably cut taxes five percent and still have the same tax revenues. Plus, all those people could actually produce something of value (real goods and services for our GDP). I am not knocking CPAs, etc. because I know that they serve a very valuable service in our current tax system. In fact, I am a tax attorney myself. But our tax system is a joke and it hurts our economy, our GDP, and our standard of living. We can enact a much better system.

I think NOW is the time to convince Bush and Congress to scrap the income tax alltogether and go with a sales tax, a fairtax instead.

Here, Hear!! We elected a new Senator from SC to help us do that. Got an email from fairtax.org today. Here 'tis:

Thank Congressman DeMint.

Congressman Jim DeMint was attacked with anti-FairTax T.V. ads for months. However, like nearly all of our pro-FairTax candidates nationwide - he prevailed on election day with a deciding victory. It was a great day for the FairTax.

We are asking everyone who receives this e-mail to call his office and thank him for his co-sponsorship on the progressive national sales tax - the FairTax. Please let us know you called his office(s) by sending an email to info@fairtax.org with the words "called DeMint" in the subject line.

His DC number is: 202-225-6030

His local district office number is: 864-232-1141 or 864-582-6422.

Time to move on.

We have passed the election and fully overcome an effort by some to use our pristine legislation, HR25 and S1493 as a partisan battering ram on some candidates. It is our belief that we can move on and become the unifying theme for this country and bring everyone together on a non-partisan issue, tax reform, and specifically the FairTax - the progressive national sales tax. Gear up and get ready, the next six months will be our best yet.

What is the FairTax?

The FairTax is non-partisan legislation (HR 25/S 1493) that abolishes personal, gift, estate, capital gains, alternative minimum, earned income, and replaces them all with one simple, visible, federal retail sales tax. The FairTax dramatically changes the basis for taxation by eliminating the root of the problem: Taxing income. The FairTax taxes us only on what we choose to spend, not on what we earn. It does not raise any more or less revenue; it is designed to be revenue neutral, so it is also price neutral. The final cost for goods and services changes little under the FairTax. The FairTax is a fair, efficient, and intelligent solution to the frustration and inequity of our current tax system.

Let's finish this!

Great!

I think we need to let Bush and Congress know that we favor a fairtax, and push them to go for it boldly.

AND we also need to educate the American people, so they won't be fooled, when the Dems will start to lie and scare them about it.

Good. The Republicans have been complicating the tax code for the past 10 years. Perhaps this is part of his secret strategery the Bushbots have been promising for the past 4 years.

The tax code needs a definate change.

But more importantly the Federal Deficit needs to be reduced. Congress is going to send us into a depression that will dwarf the 1930s depression if something is not done.

We cannot keep going into more and more debt without it having major consequences.

A Taxreform bump for you all.

If you would like to be added to this ping list let me know.

John Linder in the House & Saxby Chambliss Senate, offer a comprehensive bill to kill all income and payroll taxes outright, and provide a IRS free replacement in the form of a retail sales tax:

H.R.25, S.1493
A bill to promote freedom, fairness, and economic opportunity by repealing the income tax and other taxes, abolishing the Internal Revenue Service, and enacting a national retail sales tax to be administered primarily by the States.
