The other side may be euphoric, but the intensity of their happiness can't match the intensity of our despair. Honest conservatives, even those who admire President Bush, know he didn't earn a second term. They know he staked his presidency on a catastrophe, and that, by all rights, Iraq should be his political epitaph. Their victory, while sweet, can't be fully enjoyed because it isn't fully deserved.
....
But cultural sensitivity is one thing; principle is another. In their attempts to win rural voters, Democrats have already essentially abandoned gun control. That doesn't keep me up at night. But gay marriage is different. The fact that it is widely unpopular cannot obscure the fact that it is morally momentous and morally right...

I disagree profoundly, and have a whole blog to show for it:

History will record the liberation of Iraq as an epochal event and a positive one, akin to the freeing of serfs in Russia, or the fall of the Berlin Wall.

You idiots actually believe that gay marriage is morally right? No wonder why you can't figure out why you lost so badly: you're too dumb to live.

The New Republic was long considered the sanest of the left/lib pubs..and was a strong early supporter of Bush's WoT..Some of the artivles are excellent, incisive, and well reasoned. Yet what has happened is that the hideous rag, The Nation, edited by that hideous hag...Katrina vandenHeuvel, has over twice the circulation...and TNR is losing readers left and lefter.....they're attempting to hold on to their ciurculation..

What went wrong? Well, New Hampshire went to Kerry and that is a crying shame.
On the other hand, the long wait till afternoon to get the concession speech turned Election Night Party 2004 into one heck of an event.

Bwahahahahahaha.....your guy lost cause he didn't really have a plan, his wife is weird, and Americans are wising up to the democratic party as a shill to socialism/communism. Now go buy a clue. I want to enjoy our victory some more.

I didn't get any sleep Election night, so I was tired yesterday. That's about the only thing that went wrong for me.

Honest conservatives, even those who admire President Bush, know he didn't earn a second term.I'm an honest conservative and I admire PresBsuh. By all accounts, PresBush earned a second term. Only a sicko, wacko liberal would make such an outlandish claim.

But gay marriage is different. The fact that it is widely unpopular cannot obscure the fact that it is morally momentous and morally right...Keep thinking that, Lefty.
OTOH, even many Democrats acknowledge the Gay Left went too far by relying on the Judiciary to enact gay marriage. It shows nothing but contempt for 70+% of the electorate.

Article states: "That doesn't keep me up at night. But gay marriage is different". I cannot imagine why this writer's insomnia problems are any of our concern.
