Slightly humorous (well, to conservatives, anyway) site born of post-election radical left bitterness.
This site is called "US out of San Francisco." It lists a petition site seeking to allow CA or just SF, I'm not too clear, to secede.
Judging by the posts to this site, a lot of people are more than willing to sign the "petition" and let the left coast go on it's own...
Tell me again, how did the seige of Leningrad work?
We'd be OK out here if we could just get rid of Sodom and Gomorrah (aka SF and LA).
As a proud Southerner, I say make them howl: Sack their property and loot their homes before burning them to the ground! Then disenfranchise them while raising the taxes on their property; if they cannot pay in gold, sell the property at auction to carpetbaggers who move in. Then place troops in their treets and unqualified officials in their governmental bodies--then make them take loyalty oaths to be admitted back!
I am a Californian of more than three generations, living on the east coast now. I remember when the City was a great place- a little bit eccentric- but still a terrific place to be. It just kills me to listen to the crap on that website and others like it coming from 'Californians' who almost invariably moved there from somewhere else.
It's far worse now than it ever been.
I just wish my company would move out of San Francisco. I'm sick of having to go there five days a week. :(
Please o please o PLEASE let all the Left Coast weirdos leave.
I have to chuckle every year this topic comes about. I am in Northern Califonia our county (Butte) over welmingly votd for Bush, The problem is redistricting, the democrat liberals in the bill mill (Sacramento, to non Californians)
have designed all districts or most districts to go democrat. Had to laugh yesterday when some pundit took "The Hammer" Delay to task for redictricting Texas, to the advantage for republicans, interesting it seems to be alright for democrats but not republicans.
How about only the blue counties of California...

I second the wall theroy. Living in WA the only place that needs to be walled up is the Seattle proper area. The rest of king county and the state are fine. Go by the county by county map and we are good to go.
Kerry's Alternate Concession speech:
I concede that I overestimated the intelligence of the American
people. Though the people disagree with the President on almost every
issue, [they] saw fit to vote for him. I never saw that coming...
I concede that I misjudged the power of hate. That's pretty powerful
stuff, and I didn't see it. So let me take a moment to congratulate
the President's strategists: Putting the gay marriage amendments on
the ballot in various swing states like Ohio... well, that was just
genius. Genius. It got people, a certain kind of people, to the polls.
The unprecedented number of folks who showed up and cited "moral
values" as their biggest issue, those people changed history. The
folks who consider same sex marriage a more important issue than war,
or terrorism, or the economy... Who'd have thought the election would
belong to them? Well, Karl Rove did...
...
There are some who would say that I sound bitter, that now is the time
for healing, to bring the nation together. Let me tell you a little
story. Last night, I watched the returns come in with some friends
here in Los Angeles. As the night progressed, people began to talk
half-seriously about secession, a red state / blue state split. The
reasoning was this: We in blue states produce the vast majority of the
wealth in this country and pay the most taxes, and you in the red
states receive the majority of the money from those taxes while
complaining about 'em. We in the blue states are the only ones who've
been attacked by foreign terrorists, yet you in the red states are
gung ho to fight a war in our name. We in the blue states produce the
entertainment that you consume so greedily each day, while you in the
red states show open disdain for us and our values. Blue state
civilians are the actual victims and targets of the war on terror,
while red state civilians are the ones standing behind us and yelling
"Oh, yeah!? Bring it on!"
More than 40% of you Bush voters still believe that Saddam Hussein had
something to do with 9/11. I'm impressed by that, truly I am. Your
sons and daughters who might die in this war know it's not true, the
people in the urban centers where al Qaeda wants to attack know it's
not true, but those of you who are at practically no risk believe this
easy lie because you can. As part of my concession speech, let me say
that I really envy that luxury. I concede that.
Healing? We, the people at risk from terrorists, the people who
subsidize you, the people who speak in glowing and respectful terms
about the heartland of America while that heartland insults and
excoriates us... we wanted some healing. We spoke loud and clear. And
you refused to give it to us, largely because of your high moral
values. You knew better: America doesn't need its allies, doesn't need
to share the burden, doesn't need to unite the world, doesn't need to
provide for its future. Hell no. Not when it's got a human shield of
pointy-headed, atheistic, unconfrontational breadwinners who are
willing to pay the bills and play nice in the vain hope of winning a
vote that we can never have. Because we're "morally inferior," I
suppose, we are supposed to respect your values while you insult ours.
And the big joke here is that for 20 years, we've done just that.
...This time I will not pretend that the simple folk of America know
just as much as the people who devote their lives to serving and
studying the nation and the world. They don't.
Can we build a hugh wall topped with electrified concertina wiredown the border??!!!!
Oh, just great. They secede and the next day apply for foreign aid from US.
I can see it now. Hordes of illegal Friscan immigrants washing up on the beaches of Oregon.
Oh, the humanity.
I myself will help chainsaw the entire state of Calicommiea from the rest of the US, float it out to sea and watch it sink in it's own smug, condescending hubris and arrogance.
I lived in SF 4 years and hated it. LA is still somewhat cool, but bad traffic.
Is this "Atlas" about to shrug?
Heaven help us all!
HE77 NO!!!
California is a beautiful state. Put the Leftists on boats and send them down to Cuba, where they'd be happier, and then the conservatives can get away from places like Sea**hole and all its citiots and live in a nice, warm, sunny state. Come to think of it, put the Sea**holes on the boats, too. I'd be able to tolerate the rain and wouldn't have to move.
Not surprising. Like little babies in a pickup game of basketball, they whine and stomp and complain when they don't get their way. Then they threaten to take their ball and go home.
Why do I still live in this area?
