How Insiders Were Fooled: Bloggers Leaked Secret Data Giving Kerry an Early Lead
THE WALL STREET JOURNAL ^ | 11/4/04 | JESSE DRUCKER and GLENN R. SIMPSON

Posted on 11/04/2004 2:21:09 PM PST by Cableguy

Thanks to lessons learned four years ago when big media made some wrong calls, the average American watching television Tuesday night got a pretty accurate picture of how the election was going.

But for about seven hours in the afternoon and early evening, several million "insiders" with access to exit-poll data -- blog readers, print journalists, TV executives, politicos and their e-mail buddies -- had a different impression.

Aided by wishful thinking in some cases, many were convinced that John Kerry was benefitting from a powerful voter surge. The news largely wasn't reported on TV or in newspapers, but for much of the day, the nation's tech-savvy intelligentsia was zigging when everyone else was zagging.

What happened? The early exit polls were wrong in some cases. And some insiders disregarded warnings from the exit pollsters that theirs is an inexact science. By comparison, most pre-election polls were quite accurate: They gave President Bush a narrow lead nationally, and correctly identified the battleground states.

Isn't this kinda B.S. since it was bloggers who debunked the leaked exit poll data?

Nobody who'd been reading right-wing blogs would have put any stock in the flawed data.

Let's see ... ALL of the media gets together and forms ONE and only one organization to come up with their projections. No second opinions, nothing to challenge their assumptions. I know I saw the train wreck coming. What amazes me is that they could not.

The Americans DISCUSSING polls given out by liberal Kerry pushers are responsible for this deceit? Good grief, do these liberal pundits ever stop and consider what they're saying?

no I think I heard Dick Morris explain it is likely that the exit poll locations were leaked to certain hard-line bloggers and that the exit polls were stacked a bit.

"-- 5:33 p.m.: Zogby poll says Kerry will win the electoral vote 311-213."

This is my favorite part. Talk about flushing what little reputation you had left.....

Boycott the Wall Street Journal which has joined the MSM.

There is NO ACCOUNTABILITY in the Democrats from bottom to the top of their rotting fishhead.

> ... "insiders" with access to exit-poll data ...

No doubt the same insiders with access to the secret data
on which polling places would be used for data collection.
Data they carelessly shared with buddies who directed gangs
of Dem activists to head to those locations and pretend to
be voters.

Polling is now in the cesspool, and it will stay there
until the pollsters come clean about why the numbers
were so screwed to begin with, regardless of how the
Kerry kamp managed to get them published.

Blaming some mythical bloggers ain't gonna cut it.

totally agree. This was planted to supress the after-work vote. Even more incredulous is that Kerry's people said they were fooled too.

It's a disgrace, and I too was made physically ill by the fraudulent data.

I don't fault the MSM being complicit with the DNC; I am used to that. I do, however, fault FOX News for relying on this garbage and letting it dominate their discussion all afternoon and evening.

My 11 year old would know better that Kerry was not even with Bush in Virginia or S. Carolina.

Shame on FOX. Can't we as a nation just put a stop to all of this exit poll crap?
