Reading through them, I realize Dan could come off so folksy that he wouldn't seem nearly so much like a old, dog-eared apologist for condescending Northeastern elitism!

I'll bet that if he said those on a pretty regular basis, he could come off like he actually had been a US Marine for a period of over 1 month, or like he was never rejected by the US Army for poor physical fitness!

When did Rather turn into Jethro Bodine? This is truly a pathetic attempt to hang onto his position by overtly and shamelessly pandering to the Red States. The only stereotypical colloquial words I couldn't find were possum and grits. And this from a supposed 'enemy' of stereotypes. Does Uncle Walty have a one bed or two bedroom suite at the institute? Danny Boy may be looking for a big brother when he moves in there. And these guys were movers and shakers for decades...two of the major players in bringing down Nixon. Maybe what goes around really does come around. History will be much kinder to Mr. Nixon than to these two egomaniacs. Off with his head.

This is the one thing I will miss about Rather is the Ratherisms, they were fairly funny
