Looking for something to do in Indy (VANITY)

Hi all - pardon the vanity but I'm needing some help from my Freeper friends. Tomorrow is my wife's birthday and all week I had been planning on taking her and some friends out. Unfortunately I'm having a hard time getting any solid recommendations. We are not interested in really dancing or karaoke or anything like that. We are mostly interested in a good atmosphere where we can socialize and see something interesting. Someone recommended Julian's downtown and that's a definite possibility as it offers many options. Any other recommendations along those lines would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your help!

Bone Fish Grill has excellent steaks! Museum is a good place to go. Circle Center Mall has some fine stores and a theater. Don't know if the Pacers or Colts are playing in town. Lots of fine restaurants downtown. Hilbert Theater may be having something.

I asked the same question here a while back. There are a surprising number of interesting locations/activities.

IF you want something really nice - Ruth's Chris Steakhouse downtown was very good (and VERY expensive).

The Rathskeller restaurant was a very nice surprise with good food and very nice servers. The downtown mall area is really cool. Broadripple is nice, but rather a lefty-dominated hangout.

That's another recommendation for the Bone Fish Grill. We'll definitely have to give it a try. Right now we're leaning towards Chalkies in the Castleton area as it has billiards and good food. Thanks for your response!

Thanks for your response! Yes, I'm finding there are a lot great places to eat and things to do here in Inday. We live up in Noblesville which is a little ways out but not too far to drive in. Anyway - we're going to skip downtown Indy for this outing but thanks again!

Food: A great restaurant downtown is R Bistro, on Massachusetta Avenue downtown. I also like Bonefish Grill, which is near 82nd and Dean Road. Kona Jacks at 91st and Meridian has excellent seafood. If you like steaks, Mo's, Ruth's Chris, or St. Elmo's are excellent, but it may be hard to still get into St. Elmo's. Mama Carolla's in Broad Ripple has a great atmosphere and good food.

There is usually good blues at Slippery Noodle, good jazz at the Chatterbox.

The Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra is playing a Shostakovich concert at Hilbert theater.
