Dish on campaign trail follies (JOHN KERRY: "I Can't Believe I'm Losing To This Idiot")
NY Daily News ^ | November 4, 2004 | TRACY CONNOR

In the biggest fight of his charmed life, John Kerry swung between bewilderment and anger when things didn't go his way on the campaign trial.

"I can't believe I'm losing to this idiot," the Massachusetts Democrat sighed to a staffer when President Bush's poll numbers surged in April.

"Why the f--- didn't he take it?" he wondered when Republican Sen. John McCain refused to be his running mate a half-dozen times.

"It's a pack of f---ing lies, what they're saying about me," he shouted at an adviser as a group of Swift boat veterans stepped up attacks on his Vietnam War record while his team refused to let him respond.

Those are some of the behind-the-scenes stories from the year-long race for the White House revealed in a special Newsweek report out today. The magazine says Kerry's courtship of McCain to be his vice presidential candidate was far more intense than the public realized.

It started in August 2003, but kicked into high gear after Kerry nailed the nomination. He even offered to expand the veep's role to control defense and foreign policy. "You're out of your mind," McCain told Kerry. "I don't even know if it's constitutional, and it certainly wouldn't sell."

Kerry seemed stunned that McCain rebuffed him "after what the Bush people did to him," referring to the 2000 GOP presidential primary.

Sean feels that the Democrats are going even more to the left and will be even more vicious to this President than ever realized before.

The media will, too.

I was thinking about his Secret Service detail yesterday. I'm sure they are relieved to be free of these pompous, rude, vulgar snobs. Money can't buy class.

"I can't believe I'm losing to this idiot,"

It just exemplifies Kerry's elitism.

As more 'behind the scenes' stories come out, even the moderate Dems will be glad this doofus lost. As a Nation, we dodged a bullet that could have ruin the nation--UN controls, French influence, etc.

Your graphic is great! My son has been saying "Kerry's a fairy" and now I have proof positive. Just sent it to him.

Thanks for the belly laugh.

The "real" Kerry is exposed....

True. Ofcourse we knew he was this type of individual all along as well as the media. They just didn't want to spill the beans. Now that the election is over and he lost, the media turn on their own to gain ratings and sell magazines.

"And the reason the media didn't report any of this before the election is..."

Yesterday, on MSNBC, a reporter went into some detail about what TeRAYsa was like on the campaign trail. It was said that she was difficult, wouldn't show up for things, was a hypocondriac and demanded a lot of attention from Kerry which was a distraction from his campaigning. The reporter presented this as if it was common knowledge to the press.

How come we--the voters--didn't have a right to know this about her?

Actually, I heard on a radio morning show today that was interviewing another Newsweek guy that the embedded reporters for BOTH campaigns doing this all-access reporting had to sign something agreeing not to report anything until after the election so as "not to sway the outcome one way or another".

The Newsweek guy also was saying in the interview (I think this might even be in the report) that Ter-ay-za kept insisting during the dem primaries that SHE (Not J F'n K) wanted to have a public one-on-one debate with Howard Dean, and that the staffers had their hands full dissuading her. Now THAT would have been comedy....

"Why didn't he come to the defense of the Vets and POW's against Kerry?"

Can you say, "Election 2008"? I knew you could.

You're right. He is a fool. And who do you think is behind this? Probably the Clintons. Now, they killed two birds with one stone. Kerry will never run for this office again and Edwards is dead meat after being stuck with this loser.

"Ah yes, the pack is already turning on the injured leader. It won't be long before they reveal his true military records, stories about Teresa and his relationship. The media is going to begin going for his throat. It's what pack animals do. "

They may also want to take him out of 2008, indeed, it's all Hillary and the Breck Girl right now....

< Kerry, though, wouldn't go to any lengths for political gain. When Bill Clinton advised him to back laws banning gay marriage to pick up swing voters, he demurred, telling aides, "I'm not ever going to do that." >

The ONE thing he has backbone about. No wonder he lost.

This was the candidate that was going to bring in all of our old European "allies" to work with us in his administration. This is a portrait of an inept, delusional, incompetent candidate. It is infuriating and scary that the MSM carried his water to the point that he was competitive in the vote while knowing this information.

"He even offered to expand the veep's role to control defense and foreign policy."

At least ol' Kerry is consistent.

If he had the veep doing all the heavy lifting, he would be free to play around at windsailing and skiing all the time like he did as a senator.

"I can't believe I'm losing to this idiot," the Massachusetts Democrat sighed to a staffer when President Bush's poll numbers surged in April.

I wonder if Kerry realises that Jon Lovitz uttered almost the exact same words on SNL, portraying then-Massachusetts governor Michael Dukakis in the 1988 Bush/Dukakis debate sketch. Oh, and Dukakis lost that bid for the Presidency to Bush 41, too BWA HAHAHAHA.

"I can't believe I'm losing to this guy!"
