What Medved did is rich (wish I'd seen it). I saw Couric and Mathews, and remember exactly what you reported. Thast's the wor tof thing you'd expect those yahoos to say in private at their cocktails parties, but I guess the defeat so fresh, and the nect cocktail party so far off, that Chrissie just couldn't contain herself.
If Katie or Chris just happens to be reading this...there are actually quite a few of us out here in the red states who have indoor plumbing and we do not handle snakes in our church services.
LOL!

(I've been having browser problems, so I got into the habit of posting without doing a spell-check. Most of the time, I have to disconnect and reconnect to the 'Net, every time I want to hit a link or a URL, sometimes more than once per hit. Thus, on a bad day, posting one response can require up to five disconnect/re-connects, without spell checking.)
What I found extremely telling and illustrative of the MSM's bias was the fact that while CBS and ABC refused to call Ohio for Bush, they did call Nevada for Bush. NBC, however, called Ohio for Bush but refused to call Nevada for Bush, even after 100% of the precincts were counted. It was obvious that none of the "major" networks wanted to call the election since they hadn't received "permission" from the sKerry campaign.
Thanks for the link. The essay was good, but I have to agree with the FReepers who warned that adopting such complacency would cost Bush the election. As an old boyhood friend used to say, "Never chump off an opponent." Especially, when he has powerful friends (the media) jumping in and suckerpunching you, while you're fighting him.
At times like these I sometimes wish that I thought of watching some LSM like gunga dan blather.

Wow!
I've been watching Rather frequently since Rathergate; it's like rubbernecking at a really gruesome train wreck. I just can't help myself! I have to see what he says next.
A mandate is a command. Comes from some latin word that I forget now.
If I say, "I want to do such and such," and you say, "OK, here's the authority, go do it," that's a mandate.
So if GWB says, "I want to hunt down and kill terrorists, reform social security, and cut taxes," then says, "You all know where I stand and how I'll do things," and then we say, "OK, here is the authority, go do it," that is a mandate.
In the sense used in politics, a mandate occurs if the candidate wins AND has won on the basis that he told the voters he wants to office in order to do something.
The size of the victory is irrelevant.
Bump to that!
The media, just like the Democrats, are in complete denial about why they continue to lose power. And while it may give them comfort to mischaracterize the tightness of this presidential election, they continue to ignore just how much power and influence the Democrat Party has lost over the last decade, plus. This is a party that still controlled much of the South through the 1980s...yet has since been reduced to what can truly be described as only token representation in a few states.
The fact that the Democrat Party can't see this trend that has now been occuring for over a couple decades is an indication that they are incapable of governing themselves...let alone this country. As long as they continue to blame others for their failures, they will remain a minority party lost in the wilderness.
The problem is, they believe their own propaganda. Newsweek is reporting that Kerry was saying during the campaign, that he couldn't believe that he was losing "to this idiot." They've told themselves for years -- the pundits, the reporters, and the producers and writers of The West Wing -- that Bush is a moron. Now, that he has won, they are enting their spleen not only on the GOP, but on all of Red-state America. Not that they weren't doing that for years, anyway.
But I wouldn't count on all Dems being forever wed to delusions and hatred. Eventually, another likeable, Bill Clinton type with the common touch will come along, while the GOP is bound to have a candidate less likeable than Bush, and less able to get out the Evangelical base (most of the Party's rising stars -- e.g., Giuliani and Schwarzenegger -- are social liberals), and the Dems will win. The GOP is getting complacent, and such majorities don't last that long in today's forgetful world, with its MTV-sized attention span.
Yup. Mass psychosis. Another FReeper said that NBC called Ohio for Bush, wouldn't call Nevada for him, because that would've put him over the top, and they didn't want to do that without permission from Kerry, in the form of a Kerry concession.
Imagine if a network star said of blacks, "They're believing, not analytical." His producer would cut his mike, before the next sentence came out of his mouth.
Oh, but that's completely different . . . isn't it??? [/sarcasm]
Hey, I'm enjoying this as much as you are.
Media Stars Mope Bump!
Angry Media Stars Bump!

Thanks for the ping!
And I thought Michael Barone did a good job of explaining how the nuts and bolts of the decision desk worked.
Is Barone from Ohio? He pronounced Ohio "Ohiuh" and Cincinnati "Cincinnatuh," which is not only different from the way any other MSM talking head I'm familiar with speaks, but different from the way Barone enunciates other geographical names.
This delusional defiance is great. All that rage sure has worked for them so far. More and more irrelevant.
