Iranians Express Rage in Rally Against Bush
Washington Post ^ | 11.04.04 | Staff Writer

President Bush may have triumphed at home, but he was burned in effigy here Wednesday. A noisy street demonstration marked the 25th anniversary of the student takeover of the U.S. Embassy, after which 52 Americans were held hostage for 444 days. Unlike past commemorations, this one appeared to be focused on the future and the potential for a major showdown with the United States during a second Bush term. Bush and not Jimmy Carter, who was president during the 1979-81 hostage drama, was at the center of the protest. Three massive photographs of the president served as a backdrop for speakers who criticized U.S. foreign policy. The subtext throughout the protest was the escalating dispute between the United States and Iran over Tehran's nuclear energy program. "Nuclear technology is our right, and we are not going to surrender our rights to the United States or Europe," vowed one of several banners waved by teenage schoolgirls in a crowd of thousands. The crowd gathered outside the sprawling former American compound that is a training center for Iraq's elite Revolutionary Guards military unit. The two-hour rally ended with a statement, read to roaring chants of "Allahu Akbar," or "God is great," that Iran would never give up its right to nuclear technology.

----"Allahu Akbar," or "God is great," ----

Improper translation. Allah is not God.

What about the article posted earlier today where thousands of Iranians took to the streets to rejoice in Bush's reelection? (below)

Not this crap again. Give it a rest. Allah is Arabic for God. Deal With it. Yes, in this case it's a different religion from Christianity.

Can you imagine the celebrations all over the Middle East if GWB ad lost. Osama would probably have been named Head Mullah for life.

I beg to differ, and please do try to be polite yourself. Facts are facts. "The dominant deity (of pre-Islamic Arabs) was the moon god in several variations, whose title was al-ilah -- the chief among all gods -- shortened by frequency of usage to Allah." (page 22, The Sword of the Prophet by Serge Trifkovic.) Trifkovic goes on to further explain that this moon god of those ancient times is Baal. A pagan god, one of many gods. Not the one God of the Hebrews and the Christians. BIG difference. In fact, further research shows that Baal is akin to Beelzebub. Perhaps you've heard of him.

Yes and there is another post here that this was deliberate propaganda to offset the election, they bussed them in. Never trust anything out of Iran in the old media.

I didn't know that, the book doesn't say. I'd wondered about his name, though, thought it might be Russian. The link is not working, and unable to find the organization with a google search. Thanks for the info though.

I won't register for WP... is this correct? There is a training center in IRAN for IRAQ'S ELITE REVOLUTIONARY GUARD MILITARY UNITS? So they're not defunct - they're in Iran??
