So I got home today, wanting to toast our illustrious President and his smashing re-election. Didn't get to last night.
Started with a bottle of Iron Horse bubbly, from Sonoma County. Wife happy to celebrate with me but not much of a drinker. Drank 5/6ths of the bottle myself.
Beloved wife has roasted chicken stuffed with wild rice and wrapped in bacon, with a raspberrry/chipotle sauce, waiting for me. Decided the fruit called for a Pinot Noir.
In honor of our good friends the Aussies, opened up a Yarra Yering Pinot from 1999. Lovely cherry bouquet, a little more smoke and wood and tannins on the palate than I expected from a Pinot. That's OK, it stands up to the chipotle peppers.
Again the dear wife does not hold up her end, and I have cheerfully polished off 3/4 of the bottle myself. Bottle now empty. Considering a glass of tawny port or a Vin Santo before toddling off to bed.
I am in a VERY good mood and glad I am not on duty tomorrow.
So how are YOU celebrating this outstanding, crushing victory?

sounds like you have a thoroughly lovely and gracious wife-so, does she have a sister? Two sisters, who approach but do not quite equal her in loveliness and good-heartedness, as well as culinary skill. But alas for you, they are both married.

A glass of Benjamin Port, from Australia. $7.98 at Trader Joes.
Meanwhile, Australia, believe it or not, has produced a very good tawny port (tawny, meaning it is brownish in color- a sign, usually, of aging in wood). Benjamin Port comes in at 17.5% alcohol and comes in a brown contained that looks like an overgrown and stretched inkwell. I have purchased it a few times and have never paid more than $9 a bottle- a low price for port, and an insanely low price for tasty port. Benjamin Port is a little redder than Presidential Porto, and for whatever reason is not spicy in the least. It's oakey, very creamy, sweet, and it has hints of orange and perhaps banana. My darling Zelduh, who is a bit of a port snob, has raved about this port and thought that it could probably sell for $20-$25. Benjamin Port should be bought by the case and shared liberally with friends. (Rating ****) |

Well then, that "stands-2-reason". har har In Alaska "cubicle bound" means you fell into the overflow, froze up and therefore you are now "cubicle bound". LOL

Thanks for the clarification. Yes, it's been an intense journey for them. My brother was on the 43 Boat. He too, was a Purple Heart recipient, (his injury, legitimate, put him on hospital ship for 2 weeks) as well as the Navy Commendation Medal. He, however; returned to his crew and completed 2 12 month tours. The reunion of these guys has given so much to all of them, because like my brother, most of the guys wouldn't talk about their experience, and their reunion and activism gave him the validation for his experience and service that he never received until now. They are all going to get together again for the BIG celebration, defeating Kerry. It made me so angry when guys like O'Reilly wouldn't give them the honor due them, and to hear them being called "liars" when skerry was the guilty one, really drove me up the wall. So, you can understand the defeat of this phony was a personal quest for my family. What is your cousin's last name? If he was a Swifty, perhaps my brother could find him or some info?
