Spector must be prevented from becoming the next Senate Judiciary Chairman.

We won the election by a massive turnout of the Republican base. We must not let a RINO thwart our victory.

Absolutely. Specter must NOT be allowed to even be on the committee.

Is the chairmanship automatic? I would think not?

why cant it be the other way around:
"Bush warns likely new Senate judiciary chairman against opposing anti-abortion judges". or maybe Frist will.

This is no surprise. Conservatives saw this coming during the Senate primaries in PA. Spector is in his last term and has no loyalty to the party. Think of a Zell Miller on their side.

See?...What did I tell you?...If the GOP twarts efforts to overturn Roe, I want to see social conservatives turn out in droves to vote for Constitution Party candidates 2 and 4 years from now...conservatives have put up with an unconservative President because of the hope that he might do something on the Court...If they don't get something more than crumbs from the table...It will be time to kiss the GOP goodbye...something I already have done...

How did Spector get to be head of the judiciary ..??

And .. after Bush rescued him from certain destruction .. how DISLOYAL and DISRESPECTFUL of him to TELL President Bush what he can and cannot do.

Maybe Spector needs to have a little heart-to-heart with the President.

If Bush and the rest of the party leadership doesn't want to lose ground then they had better see to it that Spector is kept at bay. Spector is no more Republican than Jeffords. I don't know what was going through Dubya's mind when he backed that JERK

Senator Specter meets with President Bush outside Air Force One (from Specter's web site)

Remarks by the President in Pennsylvania Welcome

I want to thank Senator Arlen Specter for being here. I want to thank him for his service to Pennsylvania. I want to thank him for working with me on a lot of big issues -- no bigger issue than to make sure the federal judiciary is staffed and full of fine, fine people. The record of this Senate is a lousy record when it comes to the approval of judges that I name. We have a vacancy problem in America. We can't get our judges through the United States Senate because there's too much politics in Washington, D.C. (Applause.)

The current Senate distorts the record of good people I put up. I'm going to continue to name judges that are honorable and decent and honest. (Applause.) Judges who recognize their job is to interpret the Constitution, not to try to write new law. (Applause.) And I want to thank Senator Specter for being one of the leaders in the Senate to work with the administration to make sure our good judges get approved on a timely basis. (Applause.)

One way to make sure our judges get approved on a timely basis is to change the leadership in the United States Senate. (Applause.)

Senator, if what Bush was saying then was untrue, you should have said it then, not after he helps get your sorry asymmetric rear-end reelected.

Frist does not have to appoint Spector as the Chair. Next effort by the pajama team is to stop Specter.

Specter needs to be dropped from the judiciary and put in charge of the coat check in the Senate Cloak room.

Spector would have lost the primary if GW didn't stump for him. He also would have lost the general if republicans didn't think that 'half of a republican' is better than no republican at all. He should be working with those who put him back in office rather than working against them. What is with this man?????? Now I wish that I would have voted against this SOB........
