We should be careful to always refer to them as the AP Exit Polls....put blame where it is due.

Sabato noted that the exit polls could have the effect of depressing, and suppressing, voters for the candidate who is "supposed" to lose. There oughtta be a law....

Why is Sabato 'respected' when he's as big as an incompetent as any of them?

Here's a f-ing clue for Sabato: The exit polls were taken by a consortium of companies which all dedicated themselves - putting their reputations on the line - to destroying the President. Why would it be surprising to find the exit polls wildly skewed against him? The pollers' bosses are CBS, NBC, ABC, etc., hardly a group any sensible person would go to as a neutral observer.

Cry me a river, Mr. Sabato.
Sabato has been predicting a Kerry victory for weeks, and now he's going to shift the focus of attention to these miserable Election Day exit polls.

I think these polls are more likely to suppress votes for the candidate who is alleged to be way ahead. I mean, if you've got a headache, and there are long lines at the polls, and your candidate is fixing to win by a huge margin anyway, why bother dragging yourself to the polls?
To: Perdogg
Thats because they probably WERE rigged.
I wonder, in a way, if it backfired and brought out a few million more voters though - as the day went by.
To: Perdogg
The whole plan was to demoralize and limit Republican votes. It didn't work well enough, though the media talking heads tried their best to pull Kerry over the finish line.

Folks, there were fewer than 14,000 people questioned, or less than 280 people in each state. Of course the results sucked. The margin of error on these puppies was +/-10%....
To: Perdogg
Frank Luntz was also on Fox & Friends this morning. He too was furious over the exit polls. He gave many reasons for the bad polling but the number one reason was INCOMPETENCE.
He is afraid that polling has received a major black eye because of these exit polls.

The exit polls called VA, SC and NC for Kerry. How could they possibly believe they were accurate??
To: Perdogg
Sabato noted that the exit polls could have the effect of depressing, and suppressing, voters for the candidate who is "supposed" to lose. No s*** Dick Tracy ... Sabato this time yesterday was confidently predicting a Kerry victory. Go back to sleep dogbreath ...

I could see MAYBE Va, a lot of limo-liberals in NoVa, but not NC and SC.

i voted at 10 am i franklin county, ohio. i live in a middle class white collar area. the ratio of men to women was about 25% to 75%. if this is true across the country, then women tended to voter earlier than the men. we also know that women tended to vote for kerry more than men (although women moved significantly to thre red this year).
my guess is that the exit pollers tired to be honest, but given that more women voted earlier, they based a prediction on an improper sample of voters. that is to say, they did the polling right, but they did not poll the right people.

I do not having any problem saying the exit polls were a criminal conspiracy and not a mistake at all. But gutless Republicans will not prosecute this any more than they will prosecute the thousands of cases of outright voter fraud.
