It's Official - The South Won the Civil War!
11-3-04 | Always Right

Posted on 11/03/2004 8:24:39 AM PST by Always Right

My history books said the south lost the Civil War, but apparently that was just a battle. The south lost the battle of 1861-1865, but now are winning the war.

Excuse the map, I could not find one that had all the states colored in.

Really? So how is Wlat doing these days? Is he stable?

I wouldn't know about Walt, but you're much too modest about your talents.

You are just a game-player. Give it up. Here is my original comment which you took exception to:

CR #134 - "And every loyal State and Territory in the West provided an allotment of militia, many of whom freed up Federal regulars to return east."

Since you are a little slow on the uptake, I'll explain it to you more thoroughly. "Militia – a body of citizen soldiers as compared to professional soldiers." "Regular - A professional soldier." These are commonly used definitions of these words. So let's recast my state for your better understanding:

The states and territories sent citizen soldiers to free up some of the professional soldiers to go east.

Now, how hard is that to understand? In your case, it must be very hard; about as hard as that thick skull of yours.

Since this is such a one-sided argument, and really a waste of my time, I'm going to give you the last word - so long as you don't perpetuate any more lies. Please explain how you could misunderstand such a simple idea.

these liberals like to hate the south but if they look at a map by county they will see plenty of red in the blue states. most of kalifornia is red.

they should be attacking non-urban areas instead of entire regions.

"THE BALLAD OF FORT JEFF DAVIS"

In 1860 the temperature increased
So we went with Genr'al Carlton cross the desert to the east.
We loaded up our hard tack but it fell a little short
Then we fought hallucinations there at old Jeff Davis' fort.

CHORUS:
We fired our guns and the mirage kept a'comin.
There wasn't nigh as many as there was a while ago.
We fired once more and they began to runnin' on
Down the Rio Grand-e to the Gulf of Mexico.

We looked 'cross the desert and we see'd the rebels come.
Some bouncen apparitions of'em beatin' on the drum.
They zagged across the evening sky an floated through the night
We tried to shoot then cap'n said "ain't dat the Marfa light?".

CHORUS:
We fired our guns and the mirage kept a'comin.
There wasn't nigh as many as there was a while ago.
We fired once more and they began to runnin' on
Down the Rio Grand-e to the Gulf of Mexico.

Old Carlton said we could camp there for a bit
So we had a great big weenie roast, that fort it looked like sh*t
We slept inside the baracks on the dusty earthen floor
Till the injun's came a stirrin an they made off with the door!

CHORUS:
Well, we fired our guns and Apaches kept a'comin.
There soon was twice as many as there was a while ago.
They came right back an' we began to runnin'
Back up the Rio Grand-e from the Gulf of Mexico.

We fired at the injuns till the ammo horde was down down
So we grabbed ourselves a cactus & we fought another round.
Stuffed it full of carpetbags and dried up desert mud
But when we touched the powder off, fizz! It was a dud!

CHORUS:
Yeah, we tripped through the sinkholes and we ran through the cactus
We flopped across the desert where the scorpion wouldn't go. We ran so fast old Fort Davis couldn't keep us
And we left the Rio Grand-e and the Gulf of Mexico

We pulled back to the mill site there in old El Paso town.
And we told 'em bout the battle with the ghost rebs we had found.
We'd made a charge an taked the place but time was runnin' short
Yet we struck a blow to Richmond now by takin' Davis Fort!

Yeah, we tripped through the sinkholes and we ran through the cactus
We flopped across the desert where the scorpion couldn't go.
We ran so fast old Fort Davis couldn't keep us
And we left the Rio Grand-e and the Gulf of Mexico.

I think the analogy to the War Between the States is a good one, not from a purely geographical perspective, but from an ideological one.

I think you have to go back to 1860 or 1776 to find the nation so polarized philosophically.

And the geographical picture is misleading as there are large minorities in the "Blue" states which supported Bush and vice-versa.

But by and large, I would say the South in general better represents "traditional American values" than the northeast or the "Left" coast.

"Militia – a body of citizen soldiers as compared to professional soldiers." "Regular - A professional soldier."

...which prompts the next question. How does a militiaman become a regular? The answer: his company gets taken into the regular army and they organize him as a regular accordingly. That is what happened to volunteer units - they were taken into the army as regulars.

If you have such a hard time seeing any difference between a Republican and a Socialist, why are you hanging out here?

You're very welcom, but when it comes to smarmy yet utterly stupid, hollow, and meaningless responses I will never hold a candle to you.

Socialist? If you keep interjecting Jefferson Davis into this then GOPcapitalist will have to lay a 'tu quoque' on you.

But I hang around here because it gives me the chance to meet such interesting people as yourself.

Now I'm beginning to understand you. You have an aversion to anything being said, if it's already been said before. The truth has already been stated, so you must make up new things to say. That explains a lot.

Yes the state map shows blue, but if you look at the county breakdown, most of CA is red. Unfortunately the state is inundated with warm bodies in LA and the San Francisco Bay Area that bleed liberal blue and that tips the scales. With the exception of the aforementioned urban areas, the great state of CA is very conservative. We've increased the GOP vote more so this election that in two previous to it. From 1968 until Clinton's election in 1992 the GOP won the state.
